Description
Lamica, also known as Larmica Lee or Countess Lamika Lee, is a supporting character and antagonist in the 1985 anime adaptation of Vampire Hunter D. She is the daughter of Count Magnus Lee, a powerful Greater Noble who rules the Ransylva district. As a member of the prestigious Lee family, Lamica is a pureblood vampire who carries herself with immense pride in her noble lineage. She believes that her family's bloodline must remain untainted by human influence, and she strongly objects to her father's plan to take a human bride. Her motivations are driven by a desire to preserve the purity and status of the Nobility, viewing her father's choice as a foolish and degrading act that threatens their legacy. In the story, Lamica serves as a fierce opponent to the vampire hunter D, who has been hired to protect the human woman her father intends to marry. She confronts D directly, taunting him and attempting to prove her superiority. Her personality is marked by arrogance, elitism, and a burning sense of honor tied to her family name. She does not hesitate to look down on humans and dismisses the hunter as unworthy. Over the course of the narrative, her pride becomes her defining trait and ultimately leads to her downfall, as she is killed in battle with D. Notable abilities include those common to the Nobility: superhuman strength, speed, and durability, as well as a skilled hand in combat. Her role in the plot highlights the decadence and internal conflicts within the vampire aristocracy, and her development—though limited—shows a character unwilling to adapt or compromise, preferring to fight and die rather than accept a future she considers shameful.
