Description
Mayor Light is the mayor of Cosplay City, the fictional setting of the 1994 original video animation series New Cutie Honey. His background is rooted in a city overwhelmed by rampant crime, which he publicly vows to stop and restore to a state of peace. As a political leader, he is motivated by a genuine desire to bring order back to his community, though he is initially intimidated by the presence of the powerful and feared criminal mastermind Dolmeck. In the early episodes, Mayor Light is shown conducting an outdoor meeting with citizens when a large gang of armored motorcyclists, along with Dolmeck’s allies Black Maiden and Peeping Spider, attacks. Dolmeck halts the attack and offers the mayor a chance to rule the city alongside him, but Light refuses this proposal.
Unknown to Mayor Light, his secretary is Honey Kisaragi, a gynoid who, after regaining her lost memories and abilities, reveals herself as the heroine Cutie Honey. Following this revelation, Mayor Light agrees to fight crime in the city with her help. His relationship with Honey is professional, as she works as his secretary, and he relies on her extraordinary abilities to combat the threats he cannot handle through conventional means. He also serves as an aspirational figure for the young character Chokkei Hayami, who wishes to grow up to become like Mayor Light.
