During the war, she and Briareos were conscripted into the US Army and served together on the North African Front. After he was presumed dead and the United States dissolved, Deunan led a band of mercenaries through the final months of the international conflict. She was eventually abducted by an ESWAT team and brought to the utopian city of Olympus, where she was unexpectedly reunited with Briareos, now a cyborg who had lost over seventy-five percent of his body. Her mother’s murder is later revealed to be part of a larger conspiracy by the city’s ruling council, who manipulated Deunan to locate the Appleseed data for their own purposes.
