Description
Mishil is a female Cocotama born from the Yotsuba family’s mailbox, making her the spirit of that cherished household object. She is referred to as the Post God or Mail Goddess, and her full name is Miru-Miru no Shiru-Shiru's Gets The Scope-no-Mikoto. Her eggshell underpants bear a green envelope mark, and her appearance resembles a red butterfly. Notably, she is the only Cocotama among the Yotsuba household group that originated from an outdoor item.
Her personality is shy and mysterious, yet also childish and somewhat spoiled. She can be stubborn and prefers to keep to herself at times, though she has a playful, curious side that emerges when she engages in spying activities. Mishil often uses a furoshiki cloth as a cloak to disguise herself, and she enjoys playing the role of a secret agent. Her motivations align with those of other apprentice Cocotamas: she wishes to collect Happy Stars by doing good deeds for humans unnoticed, so that she can become a full-fledged god and eventually travel to the Cocotama World.
In the story, Mishil serves as a spy and information-gatherer for the group of Cocotamas living in Kokoro Yotsuba’s Cocotama House. She frequently masquerades as a character called Cocotama Spy 346 by adding lipstick and a mask, a disguise that only the most gullible fellow Cocotama fail to see through. She uses her magic spell, which involves the chant “Mirumiru Shirushiru Mishilululu,” to aid her investigations. Her role adds an element of intrigue and comic relief, especially when her attempts at secrecy lead to humorous situations.
Mishil’s key relationships are with the human girl Kokoro Yotsuba, who acts as her landlord through a house rental contract, and with the other Cocotamas in the household, including LuckyTama, Melory, Oshaki, Geracho, Kirarise, Mogutan, and the twin shampoo gods Sarine and Parine. While she is initially shy around them, she gradually becomes a valued member of the group, contributing her unique surveillance talents to their shared adventures. Her development is subtle; she learns to balance her secretive nature with the need to cooperate with her fellow Cocotamas. Notable abilities include her expert use of the furoshiki for camouflage, her keen observation skills, and her capacity to remain hidden while gathering information. Through her efforts, Mishil demonstrates that even a shy, mysterious Cocotama can make a meaningful contribution to the community.
