TV-Series
Description
Range is a male Cocotama, an apprentice god born from a paintbrush, whose name comes from the word arrange and is sometimes romanized as Renji or Renge. He first appears partway through the series as a traveling merchant who, together with his partner Pinco, moves from place to place by concealing himself among delivery parcels and selling goods to other Cocotamas. In their two-person enterprise, Range works as the craftsman: he is dexterous with his hands and acts as an arrangement specialist who refines, decorates, and finishes the items the pair offers.
In personality, Range is generally calm and composed, and he tends to be the serious, level-headed half of the duo. He is earnest and can be quite strict, often scolding Pinco when her antics go too far. Despite his composed surface, he is quick-tempered and proud; even a mild display of anger has enough force to startle other Cocotamas, and he carries an arrogant streak that Pinco has to manage carefully. He also dislikes being called cute or being mistaken for a girl, and when conducting business he speaks in a formal, cautious manner, frequently adding disclaimers such as noting that results may vary while Pinco enthusiastically pitches their products.
Range's motivations are closely tied to his origins. The family whose cherished paintbrush gave him life moved away while he was away from the house, and he has spent years traveling in search of them. This longing to reunite with the people who cared for the object he was born from keeps him on the road, and his travels also serve the pair's shared ambition to expand their trading business to a much larger scale. In the story he appears as a recurring member of the wandering merchant duo, crossing paths with the central Cocotamas through their deliveries and sales, and his quiet competence balances Pinco's outgoing salesmanship. His notable abilities include his manual skill as an arranger, the standard Cocotama magic, and his resourcefulness in traveling unseen by riding inside delivery packages, all of which he uses to support his partner and continue his long search for the family he lost.
