Range is a male Cocotama, an apprentice god born from a paintbrush, whose name comes from the word arrange and is sometimes romanized as Renji or Renge. He first appears partway through the series as a traveling merchant who, together with his partner Pinco, moves from place to place by concealing himself among delivery parcels and selling goods to other Cocotamas. In the story he appears as a recurring member of the wandering merchant duo, crossing paths with the central Cocotamas through their deliveries and sales, and his quiet competence balances Pinco's outgoing salesmanship.
