Aya Endō

Description
Aya Endō is a Japanese voice actress and narrator born on February 17, 1980, in Yamagata Prefecture. After graduating from high school, she moved to Tokyo. She enrolled in the Performing Arts Center, a training school run by Nachi Nozawa, where she graduated after repeating a year. Her decision to attend this specific school was influenced by her parents, who knew Nozawa. Initially, her work focused on dubbing foreign television dramas and films, a field known as fukikae, before her career increasingly centered on anime and video game voice work. She made her anime debut in 2002 with a minor role in the anime Il Dante. Her first regular role in a television anime series came in 2005 as Kasumi Horiguchi in Oku-sama wa Joshi Kōsei (My Wife is a High School Girl). Endō's career gained significant momentum in 2007 with her performance as Miyuki Takara in the popular series Lucky Star. In 2008, she voiced Sheryl Nome in Macross Frontier and the titular character in Neo Angelique Abyss. Her work on Lucky Star contributed to her winning the Best Singing Award at the 2nd Seiyu Awards in 2008, an honor shared with her co-stars Aya Hirano, Emiri Katō, and Kaori Fukuhara for the series' opening theme song. In 2009, she received the Best Supporting Actress Award at the 3rd Seiyu Awards. In 2007, she also formed the voice acting unit "Plume" with Manabi Mizuno and Shiho Kawaragi, which originated from their internet radio program and released several music albums. Endō is known for her versatile vocal range, capable of portraying a wide variety of characters. While she frequently plays gentle, polite, or introverted young women like Miyuki Takara or Angelique, she is equally adept at voicing strong-willed and mature female characters such as Sheryl Nome, competitive roles like Bachou Mouki in Ikki Tousen, and even young boys or animal characters. Examples of her playing against type include the冷酷 (cruel) and evil Guraujio in Kiba and the animal character Spanky in Basquash!. Her dubbing work is also extensive; she is notably the official Japanese voice of Minnie Mouse, a role she took over from Yūko Mizutani in 2016. Following Mizutani's passing, she has also taken on several other roles previously voiced by her. Among her many notable roles in anime are Fuuko Kurasaki (Sky Raker) in Accel World, Totoko in Mr. Osusomatsu, Reine Murasame in the Date A Live series, Komugi in Hunter × Hunter (2011), Fumika Kodama in Yo-kai Watch, and Orsola Aquinas in A Certain Magical Index II. Her filmography also includes more recent roles such as Saeko Izumi in the 2024 Netflix series Garouden: The Way of the Lone Wolf and Shōko Ieiri in the Jujutsu Kaisen compilation films. As of April 2025, following the closure of her long-time agency Office PAC, she became affiliated with the agency Intention, which was founded by voice actor Kenichi Suzumura. Endō announced her marriage on her blog in August 2013.
