Description
Kajika Louisa Kugami Burnsworth, only daughter of industrialist Harry Burnsworth, lost her mother at age two during a kidnapping attempt. Relocated to the Caribbean island of Giviolle, she spent roughly ten years in isolation under the care of native islander Maria. Her childhood companion was a snow leopard named Mustafa, gifted by acquaintance Li Ren Fang, who visited biannually. This upbringing left her socially inexperienced, openly fascinated by ordinary aspects of the outside world, and unrestrained in emotional expression.
At fourteen, Kajika moved to Japan for schooling, befriending classmate Yui Yamate. Her unconventional behavior—like openly mourning Mustafa—marked her as peculiar. Soon after, Li Ren escorted her to New York to reunite with Harry, who initiated a "marriage game": selecting a husband from three anonymous candidates. Choosing one would reveal her "true destiny"; choosing none would grant victory. Li Ren became her guardian in exchange for strengthened business ties between their families.
Kajika has striking silver eyes and pinkish-red hair in a messy bob. Kind yet fearless and headstrong, she acts instinctively, often rushing into peril. Her stubbornness fuels unwavering beliefs, such as insisting French aristocrat Eugene Alexandre de Volkan is Mustafa’s reincarnation due to similar eyes and hair. Socially naïve, she misunderstands romantic or sexual implications, innocently sharing beds with suitors. She views everyone as potential friends and treats her bodyguard, 17-year-old Toranosuke V Haga, like a younger brother. Lingering loneliness stems from years of isolation with only Mustafa for constant companionship.
The marriage candidates include Eugene (nicknamed "Mustafa"), Prince Rumaty Ivan of Raginei—an exiled royal sheltered since his brother’s coronation—and Carl Rosenthal, heir to a rival corporation burdened by childhood claustrophobia. Kajika forms genuine bonds with all three, striving to include them in her life. Her resemblance to Rumaty (shared features and impulsive charisma) foreshadows their familial tie as cousins through grandfather King Mahaty of Raginei. During Raginei’s political crisis, Kajika confronts her royal lineage, leading to two pivotal realizations: her love for Li Ren and her destiny as Burnsworth heir, concluding the marriage game.
Her character evolves throughout the series. Initially oblivious to romance, she experiences her first kiss with Rumaty and gradually discerns romantic feelings. She exhibits fierce protectiveness when loved ones are threatened, though her anger fades quickly. Navigating Raginei’s coups, betrayals, and life-threatening danger while supporting Rumaty’s claim to the throne solidifies her maturity. By the story’s end, she embraces her identity as Mahaty’s granddaughter and accepts her future alongside Li Ren.
