Description
Originating as an ordinary shrine frog, Komajirou formed a deep bond with Nobushige, the Arihoshi family dog, frequently riding atop the dog's head during patrols. Both perished simultaneously during a snowstorm when a collapsing guardian lion-dog statue struck them—an accident caused by young Mitsue Arihoshi misfiring magic. The family buried them together.

Nobushige reincarnated as the Yo-kai Komasan, who named his frog companion Komajirou in remembrance. Though Komasan doubted Komajirou became a Yo-kai, Komajirou had reincarnated but entered prolonged hibernation. Years later, he emerged from his grave as a Yo-kai, wandering until encountering the Yo-kai Detective Agency (Natsume Amano, Akinori Arihoshi, Touma Tsukinami) near a forest pond. This reunion with Komasan happened in the anime episode "Wandering Komajiro".

Komajirou initially suspected their deaths were deliberate. Learning Mitsue Arihoshi was responsible ignited his anger, triggering a transformation into his Shadowside form and driving him to attack her. He calmed after her sincere apology and explanation of the accident. Both brothers forgave her, and Komajirou offered his Keystone to Natsume, joining her team. He maintains a natural animosity towards snakes, instantly attacking the snake Yo-kai Sly upon meeting.

Physically, his Lightside form resembles a small frog, differing significantly from the original series' komainu-like Komajiro. His Shadowside form retains his Lightside facial features but adopts a taller, more humanoid body structure with elongated limbs. He belongs to the Omamori tribe, specializing in protection and healing. His catchphrase, "Mongero!", blends "gero" (frog croak) and "monge!" (amazing), referencing his amphibian origins and the original Koma brothers' expressions.

Personality-wise, he possesses a strong sense of justice and straightforward demeanor. He instinctively confronts suspicious individuals yet remains unaware of how his own actions might appear questionable. Deep loyalty manifests in fierce defense of Komasan and immediate hostility towards perceived threats like Mitsue or Sly. Beyond the anime, he appears as a playable Yo-kai in *Yo-kai Watch 4* (encountered in Chapter 5, befriended in Chapter 8) and *Yo-kai Watch: Wibble Wobble*, where his Lightside and Shadowside forms were obtainable during limited-time events.

Trivia notes include his status as the last of four Shadowside Yo-kai described as "cute" by Natsume Amano (alongside Junior, Lucky, Inari) and sharing his Japanese voice actor with the original series Komajiro and Knomad Jiro.
