Description
Emily Amonde, later known as Emily Asuno after marriage, is a central character from the first generation of the story. She is introduced as a childhood friend of the protagonist, Flit Asuno. The two became close after Flit moved to the space colony Nora as a seven-year-old, having recently lost his mother, and she is established as his first friend there. Her grandfather is Vargas Dyson, a technical officer stationed at the Arinston Base.

In her youth, Emily possesses a caring and deeply concerned personality, especially regarding Flit's safety. As his closest friend, she is frequently torn between understanding his passion for developing the Gundam to fight the Unknown Enemy and her own wish to keep him away from the dangers of battle. This concern drives her to act against common sense, such as ignoring evacuation orders to stow away on the battleship Diva just to ensure Flit is unharmed after he pilots the Gundam. She eventually comes to terms with his decision to fight and chooses to support him, a resolution she reaches after receiving advice from Laraparly Madorna, who tells her that fully supporting Flit is the only way to remain by his side.

Emily's primary motivation throughout the first arc is her care for Flit and her desire to protect him, even if it means putting herself at risk. This is shown when she attempts to rescue Flit on her own after he is taken into custody by the Zalam faction on the colony Fardain. Her role in the story evolves from a civilian friend to an active participant aboard the Diva. After the destruction of Nora, she remains on the ship and volunteers to become part of the crew. In this capacity, she initially works behind the scenes but eventually becomes an operator for the AGE Builder, the device that creates the Gundam's equipment. Vargas notes that she understands the AGE Builder better than anyone else on the ship. She also helps in other ways, such as providing medical aid to an injured soldier during the Battle of Ambat.

Key relationships define her place in the narrative. Her bond with Flit Asuno is the most significant, beginning as a childhood friendship that eventually blossoms into a one-sided love for much of the first generation, a period during which Flit is more focused on fighting and is emotionally drawn to another girl, Yurin L'Ciel. Despite this, her dedication perseveres, and she ultimately marries Flit, becoming Emily Asuno. In the second generation, she is the mother of their two children, son Asemu Asuno and daughter Unoa Asuno. By the third generation, she appears as the grandmother of Kio Asuno.

Emily undergoes significant development across the generations. As a teenager, she is emotionally driven, sometimes acting on impulse. By the second generation, she is a mature, 39-year-old wife and mother living in Tordia. While she retains her kind nature, she becomes quieter and more resigned, understanding her husband's burdens but speaking little against his decisions, such as when he encourages Asemu to join the military academy. In the third generation, as a 63-year-old woman, she continues her role as the matriarch of the Asuno family, providing support from the home front.

Regarding notable abilities, Emily does not pilot a mobile suit or possess any special fighting skills. Her strengths lie in her technical and medical knowledge. She becomes an excellent computer technician, working alongside Flit on various projects. Her skill with the AGE Builder is well-established, and it is even mentioned in novelizations that she contributed to the development of the FX System for the Gundam AGE-FX, working with her daughter-in-law Romary to create a system that enhances an X-Rounder's abilities. Furthermore, she has a good reputation in the medical field, having undergone proper training and education in that area as well.
