Description
Auruo Bossard, also known as Oruo Bozad, is a supporting character who appears in the special episode Attack on Titan: Ilse's Notebook. He is a soldier of the Scout Regiment and a hand-picked member of Captain Levi Ackerman's elite Special Operations Squad.

Auruo has a physical appearance that seems older than his actual age, which is around nineteen. He has light brown, slightly curly hair styled in an undercut, and small hazel eyes. A notable feature is the pronounced wrinkles on his face, making him look more aged than his peers. His expression often includes his eyebrows pulled down in a condescending manner, and he wears a cravat with his standard Scout Regiment uniform. This entire look, from the hairstyle to the cravat to the stern expression, is a deliberate attempt to imitate the appearance of his captain, Levi.

Auruo's personality is defined by extreme self-confidence and a tendency to boast openly about his skills and accomplishments. This haughty nature is backed up by his impressive combat record, which includes thirty-nine solo kills and nine assisted kills of Titans, making him the most lethal member of the Special Operations Squad after Levi himself. Despite his arrogance, his comrades rarely take his cockiness seriously. He also has a clumsy side, most notably a habit of accidentally biting his own tongue, especially when he is speaking while riding his horse at high speed.

His most defining trait is his deep admiration for Captain Levi. Auruo constantly and openly tries to copy Levi's confident attitude, rough manner of speaking, and even his personal style. This behavior is a frequent point of mild conflict with his squadmate, Petra Ral, who finds it irritating and often criticizes him for it.

Within the story of Ilse's Notebook, Auruo plays a minor but notable role during the 49th expedition beyond the Walls. He is present when squad leader Hange Zoe proposes capturing a Titan for study, a plan that Commander Erwin Smith rejects. Auruo attempts to mock Hange for their obsession, but Hange reacts by grabbing and strangling him in frustration. Later, when Hange disobeys orders and breaks away from the regiment to pursue a Titan, Commander Erwin sends Levi's squad to retrieve them. When Auruo tries to kill the Titan that has caught Hange's attention, Hange's frantic protests distract him, and the Titan manages to grab him. He is only saved by the timely intervention of Captain Levi. After the expedition, Auruo tries to apologize to Hange for causing the Titan's death, but Hange, in their usual enthusiastic manner, ends up apologizing so fervently that they begin choking him again, causing him to pass out.

Regarding his overall development, Auruo had a humble and unglamorous beginning as a soldier. During his first expedition outside the walls, the fear was so overwhelming that he wet himself. This embarrassing early experience contrasts sharply with his later persona as a confident elite soldier. When he is first assigned to protect Eren Jaeger, he is openly distrustful of the young man and his ability to control his Titan powers. He frequently taunts Eren and is quick to threaten him, showing a lack of faith in him as a comrade. However, after a tense incident where Eren partially transforms accidentally, Auruo and the rest of the squad realize they were too hasty in their judgment. As a silent apology, they bite their own hands, mimicking Eren's transformation gesture, demonstrating a shift towards acceptance and loyalty.

Auruo is a highly skilled combatant, possessing exceptional mastery of the vertical maneuvering equipment. He is one of the strongest soldiers in the Scout Regiment, and his kill count of forty-eight Titans is a testament to his lethality. He prefers to engage Titans alone and is proficient enough to work in perfect, silent coordination with his squadmates, Eld Gin and Petra Ral. His official statistics rate his combat skills very highly, while his talents in strategic thinking and teamwork are more average. He also holds the dubious distinction of a perfect score in "venomous tongue," reflecting his sharp and often sarcastic way of speaking.
