Natsuki Hashiba is the main protagonist of the anime Rainbow Days. He is a high school student with a hopelessly romantic and dreamy nature, often immersing himself in delusions about love. Natsuki has slightly messy blond hair, brown eyes, stands 171 cm tall, and weighs 54 kg. He was born on August 7 and has blood type A. His friends affectionately call him Nacchan. At the start of the story, Natsuki is dumped by his girlfriend Yuri on Christmas Eve because she was disappointed with his gift of a muffler. Heartbroken and crying in the street, he is offered tissues by a girl dressed as Santa Claus. That girl is Anna Kobayakawa, and Natsuki falls in love with her at first sight. He discovers she attends the same school and becomes determined to win her heart. Natsuki’s personality is kind, patient, and energetic. He is very expressive, with emotions easily readable on his face, and he considers himself a bit pathetic for being unable to commit bad deeds due to his kind heart. He is shy and hesitant when it comes to romance, often relying on his three best friends for support. Those friends are Tomoya Matsunaga, a narcissistic playboy; Keiichi Katakura, a sadistic whip-carrying boy; and Tsuyoshi Naoe, an otaku with a cosplaying girlfriend. Together, the four boys navigate school life and romantic entanglements. Natsuki’s motivation is to build a genuine relationship with Anna, and with his friends’ encouragement he learns to overcome his insecurities and express his feelings. Over the course of the series, he develops from a dejected heartbroken boy into a more confident and sincere young man, though he remains a lovable dreamer. He has no special abilities beyond his warm-heartedness and the loyalty of his friends.
