Description
Jitsui is a member of the D-Agency, an elite spy training unit within the Imperial Japanese Army. Among the agency's eight skilled operatives, he is known for his approachable and amiable demeanor. His appearance is characterized by black hair and brown eyes, and he typically wears a light brown vest over a white shirt with a black tie, paired with khaki pants and light brown shoes, a wristwatch on his left hand completing his standard attire.

In terms of personality, Jitsui stands out for his friendly and soft-spoken nature, particularly in his interactions with Lieutenant Sakuma. Unlike several of his colleagues who initially treated Sakuma with suspicion or open hostility due to his outsider status from the General Staff Office, Jitsui was consistently caring and cordial toward him. This congenial exterior, however, conceals a more complex inner character. When facing an adversary, Jitsui can reveal a ruthlessly sadistic side, demonstrating a cold and merciless efficiency that sharply contrasts with his usual gentle manner. This duality makes him a highly effective spy, as his harmless facade easily disarms targets and fellow agents alike.

Jitsuis motivations are rooted in his professionalism and loyalty to the D-Agency and its commander, Lieutenant Colonel Yuuki. He operates under the agencys core tenets, which prioritize mission success and self-preservation over blind patriotism or personal glory. He embodies the ideal of a spy as an invisible, shadow-like figure who adapts to any situation using his own judgment. His role in the story is most prominently featured in a mission where he is tasked with monitoring a former diplomat suspected of collaborating with Western powers. For this assignment, he assumes the deep cover identity of Morishima, a draft-dodging houseboy. This role serves a dual purpose: to surveil the target and to act as bait, luring rival intelligence agencies into exposing themselves. When the Wind Agency, a rival Japanese spy organization, attempts to blackmail his cover identity, Jitsui expertly deceives them for months, patiently setting a trap.

Key relationships in his narrative involve his interactions with this rival agency. He displays open disdain for the Wind Agency, particularly its operative Jiro Gamo, whom he dismissively labels as a small fry. In the climactic confrontation, Jitsui reveals his true identity and thwarts Jiros attempt on Lieutenant Colonel Yuukis life, demonstrating his superior skill and tactical planning. His relationship with his D-Agency comrades is marked by a professional, almost casual camaraderie where they show mutual respect for each others abilities while maintaining a somewhat derogatory and blunt manner of speaking to one another, a sign of their close-knit and high-pressure environment. While he respects Yuuki as his commander, the specifics of their relationship are not deeply explored.

Throughout his story arc, Jitsui does not undergo a dramatic personal transformation. His development is instead demonstrated through the successful execution of his lengthy and intricate mission, proving his patience, mental fortitude, and ability to maintain a cover identity under sustained pressure. He is already a fully realized and capable agent, and his primary challenge is external: outmaneuvering a hostile intelligence network while staying true to his role.

Regarding notable abilities, Jitsui is a master of disguise and long-term psychological manipulation, capable of maintaining a false persona for months while subtly guiding events toward a predetermined outcome. He is also proficient in deception, using his friendly personality as a weapon to lower the guard of his targets. His skills extend to combat, where he has demonstrated excellent marksmanship and a fighting style that can turn unexpectedly brutal, reflecting the sadistic streak that emerges when he is opposed. Like all members of the D-Agency, he possesses a wide range of espionage skills, from lock-picking and radio communication to fluency in multiple languages and the operation of various vehicles.
