Description
Heishi Otomaru is a nineteen-year-old young man with tousled, pinkish hair and matching dark pink eyes, standing at a height of 178 centimeters. He has a sanguine personality, being consistently energetic, cheerful, and friendly, which makes him an approachable figure among the group. Within the story, he functions as a natural mood maker, often taking on the role of lifting everyone's spirits and changing the atmosphere with his lively presence, even when faced with unpleasant circumstances.

His background reveals a difficult past directly tied to his supernatural ability. Heishi possesses the power of telepathy, which allows him to project his thoughts and emotions to others without speaking. However, this ability is unstable, causing his inner feelings to leak out involuntarily, especially when he becomes excited or emotional. As a child, he struggled to control this power, often throwing tantrums that transmitted his feelings to everyone around him, which became disruptive. Unable to cope, his parents eventually abandoned him. Later, he was taken in by a group of traveling performers, where he learned to play the flute, a skill that became a significant part of his identity and an outlet for his emotions.

Due to his inability to keep secrets, his blunt and unfiltered honesty frequently irritates the female members of the crew, leading to arguments. This carefree nature sometimes leads others to underestimate him, but the crew trusts his judgment, as he has a proven ability to accurately read people's characters. He dislikes hiding his negative emotions, as his power would force others to feel the same distress, so he often tries to appear cheerful on the surface.

As his story primarily unfolds when the protagonist is Nanami, Heishi forms a close partnership with her. Initially, their relationship develops with a sibling-like dynamic, and he becomes one of the few people who interacts with her naturally. His motivations are deeply rooted in a desire for a simple, happy family life, a dream he has held since his childhood abandonment. Throughout the narrative, he repeatedly confesses his feelings to Nanami, showing a straightforward and earnest approach to love.

Key relationships include his friendship with Itsuki, with whom he often spends time, and his reliance on Kakeru and January for support. He gets along well with other troublesome members of the cast, but he frequently clashes with the more serious characters due to his chaotic energy. Despite his outgoing personality, he struggles with darker impulses. In one tragic outcome, his desire to protect Nanami becomes obsessive and violent, leading him down a dangerous path where he must be stopped. In the more hopeful resolution, he and Nanami choose to defy the world's system by running away together, aided by their friends, to live a peaceful life traveling and finding happiness on their own terms.

His notable abilities center on telepathy, which not only allows him to broadcast his thoughts but also lets him sense the basic emotions of others. This power has interesting synergies with other abilities, particularly Nanami's power to erase memories, suggesting a deeper potential when combined. Despite his social strengths, he has notable weaknesses, including a complete lack of cooking skills and a tendency to act without planning, which often lands him in trouble.
