Description
Annie Leonhart is a graduate of the 104th Training Corps who ranked fourth in her class, recognized for exceptional skill in hand-to-hand combat and swordsmanship. She is of short stature with a small, muscular build, moderately short blonde hair often tied back with a fringe over her right eye, and blue eyes that frequently hold a sullen expression. After being freed from a crystallized state years later, she lets her hair hang loose. In daily life she is often seen in a white hooded sweatshirt and wears a ring with a small folding blade to cause the self-injury required for her Titan transformation.

Annie was not born within the Walls but is a Warrior from Marley, the nation that sent Titan shifters to infiltrate Paradis Island. Her mission was to recover the Founding Titan, which she pursued as the wielder of the Female Titan. Her early life was harsh: after being identified as a Subject of Ymir, she was taken in by an adoptive father who subjected her to brutal combat training from childhood, hoping to secure a better life by molding her into a Warrior. This upbringing forged an emotionally detached individual who treats lives as collateral, though her father’s eventual pleas for her survival over duty left a lasting mark.

Posing as a soldier within Paradis’s military, Annie maintained a cold, distant facade to avoid attachments. Yet she harbored a grudging respect for those driven by conviction, notably sparing Armin Arlert despite her mission’s demands. She shows flickers of remorse, apologizing to a dead comrade and feeling guilt over Marco Bott’s death. Her pragmatism masks a turbulent interior: she is highly intelligent, self-aware, and freely admits her own faults without self-loathing. Her sense of humor is deadpan and mocking, often emerging in intense situations. Driven above all by the desire for a normal life and to return to her father, she states she would commit all her sins again to see him.

As the Female Titan, Annie possesses heightened agility, brute strength, and the ability to harden parts of her skin into crystalline armor for attack or defense. A piercing scream can attract Titans, though it risks drawing their unchecked fury. Her fighting style is methodical and precise, honed by her father’s tutelage. After her identity was exposed, she was defeated and crystallized herself into an indestructible shell, remaining comatose and imprisoned underground for approximately four years. When the Rumbling undid all Titan hardening, she was freed. Weak and disoriented, she initially focused on escaping to return to her father, but eventually joined forces with former enemies including Armin, Mikasa, Reiner, and the remaining Survey Corps members to form an alliance aimed at stopping Eren Yeager’s genocidal Rumbling. Her arc moves from solitary pragmatist to uneasy collaborator, marked by blunt accountability for past atrocities rather than a quest for absolution.
