Description
Kaho Nikaido is the main protagonist of the story. She is a fifteen-year-old high school student who leaves the comfort of her family home to live in a dormitory in Tokyo, seeking a fresh start and a more normal life.

Kaho comes from an exceptionally wealthy and influential family, being the spoiled daughter of elderly parents who had her late in life. Because of her family's status, everyone in her hometown treated her with excessive care and deference, to the point where she was never criticized or spoken to harshly. This sheltered upbringing, while filled with material comfort, had a significant downside. People who acted as her friends were often paid by her parents, and she was acutely aware that these relationships were not genuine. This environment left her feeling isolated, and she often speaks negatively about herself, struggling with low self-esteem and a tendency to blame herself.

Physically, Kaho is a cute girl with long, dark purple hair that features a single strand sticking up, and purple eyes. Her personality is generally kind, caring, gentle, shy, and soft-spoken, though she is also noted to be somewhat naive and clumsy. Despite her wealth, she does not boast about it and makes a conscious effort to live as normally as possible. However, beneath her sweet demeanor lies a surprisingly serious side; she can become intensely focused on even the smallest matters, and is described as having a hidden, more earnest personality that emerges at times.

Her main motivation and the central conflict of her story begin shortly after she moves to Tokyo. While trying to retrieve a precious keepsake, Kaho nearly walks into the path of an oncoming truck. She is saved by a handsome boy who pulls her to safety. Instead of accepting her thanks, the boy loudly and angrily scolds her for her carelessness. This was the first time anyone had ever spoken to her so bluntly or criticized her, and it makes a powerful impression. She is attracted to him because he treated her as a genuine person, independent of her money and social standing. She boldly confesses her love to him, and he agrees to go out with her. The next day, she discovers that her new boyfriend, Kanade Takahashi, is not the high schooler she assumed him to be, but rather a fifth-grade elementary school student.

This revelation sets the stage for Kaho's role in the story. She must navigate a deeply unusual romantic relationship, constantly grappling with her own feelings and her awareness that it is socially wrong for a high schooler to date a child. She is often self-conscious about this and worries a great deal about the future of their relationship, wondering if she should continue it. Compounding this is the fact that Kanade, despite his mature and handsome appearance, often behaves in a childish manner, which leads to confusion and comedic situations as her expectations of a typical romance clash with reality. She is also prone to fits of jealousy and possessiveness, particularly when she sees girls Kanade's own age talking to him.

Her key relationships are all centered around her life at the Kasumi dormitory. Her most significant relationship is, of course, with Kanade Takahashi. Despite their age difference, she is drawn to his honest and straightforward nature, and she ultimately decides to continue dating him to see how he matures. She lives alongside other residents, including Kouta Shinohara, a shy first-year high school student who has a crush on her, and Chiaki Yokoichi, a level-headed friend who finds Kaho's relationship amusing. She also has to deal with Atsushi Taga, a college student who initially acts as her rival and is hostile towards her. Her family also plays a role, particularly her older brother Daikoku, who harbors a morbidly obsessive love for her.

Throughout the story, Kaho shows clear signs of development. She begins as a girl socially and emotionally stunted by her over-privileged upbringing. Her unusual relationship with Kanade, while fraught with problems, forces her to confront real feelings of jealousy, love, and heartbreak for the first time. She experiences her first dates and learns about the complexities of relationships, essentially going through typical adolescent social experiences belatedly because she was never allowed to have them before. Her internal struggle is between her logical mind, which tells her the relationship is wrong, and her powerful emotions, which are invested in her first love.

Outside of her romantic interests, Kaho does not possess any supernatural or combat-oriented notable abilities. Her strengths lie in her capacity for genuine feeling and her desire to connect with others on an authentic level, a desire that ultimately drives her actions throughout the series. No information is available regarding any other special skills or powers.
