Description
Mari Nikaido is a witch who becomes a key member of the 35th Test Platoon at the Anti-Magic Academy. She is known as the Witch of Aurora, a title derived from her ancient Aurora magic attribute. Before joining the academy, she was a conscript member of the organization Valhalla, where she was tricked into assisting with their criminal activities. She later becomes the first witch to enroll at the Anti-Magic Academy, a controversial development given the institution's anti-magic stance.

In terms of personality, Mari is confident in her magical abilities and carries herself with a proud demeanor. Despite this, she is kind-hearted and genuinely seeks a world where magic and humanity can coexist peacefully. She is also insecure about her physical appearance, particularly her flat chest, which draws teasing from teammates Ouka Ootori and Ikaruga Suginami. Her enthusiasm and boldness often shine through, but she can be sensitive about certain personal traits.

Mari's motivations center on redemption and finding a sense of belonging. Having been exploited by Valhalla, she wants to prove herself trustworthy and contribute positively to the Inquisition. Her goal is to bridge the divide between witches and humans, showing that not all magic users are inherently dangerous.

As a member of the 35th Test Platoon, Mari serves as a powerful magical asset. She specializes in the Aurora attribute, which allows her to cast high-powered destructive magic as well as restorative, summoning, and defensive spells. Her abilities make her versatile in combat, though she relies more on raw magical force than subtlety. Her distinctive look includes a muffler and a hat that she wears even indoors.

Mari's relationships with other members of the platoon shape her growth. She develops a close friendship with Takeru Kusanagi, who is the first person to treat her as a human being rather than a weapon. This bond is crucial in helping her open up and trust others. Her relationship with Ouka Ootori is initially tense due to Ouka's deep hatred of witches, but Mari works hard to earn her trust, and they eventually become allies. Throughout the series, she transitions from a fugitive witch on the run to a valued and trusted member of the team, demonstrating her personal growth and desire to protect those who gave her a second chance.
