Movie
Description
Kinshiki Otsutsuki is a member of the Otsutsuki clan, an extraterrestrial family of beings who travel across dimensions to harvest the chakra of worlds with God Trees. He appears in Boruto: Naruto the Movie as the imposing, silent partner to Momoshiki Otsutsuki. Physically, Kinshiki is massive, standing over two meters tall, with pale skin, long grey-white hair, and a single horn protruding from his forehead. He dresses in flowing white robes that partially obscure his face, and like all members of his clan, he possesses the Byakugan in his eyes, granting him near-360-degree vision and the ability to see chakra networks.

Kinshiki serves as both the loyal subordinate and the foster father to Momoshiki. His personality is defined by this role, marked by absolute devotion, stoicism, and a fierce sense of duty. He speaks little and rarely shows emotion, focusing entirely on his mission and his lord's safety. Despite his calm demeanor, he holds a deep-seated grudge and is highly vindictive; after Sasuke Uchiha cuts off the tip of his horn in their first encounter, Kinshiki becomes singularly determined to kill the ninja in retaliation, even attempting to attack Sasuke's daughter during the chaos of the chunin exams. He shows no compassion for other life forms, viewing them only as inferior beings whose chakra is meant to be harvested.

Motivated by the Otsutsuki clan's goal of eternal life and ever-increasing power, Kinshiki aids Momoshiki in their investigation of Kaguya's betrayal. They travel to Earth to reclaim the chakra she hoarded, specifically targeting the tailed beasts sealed within Naruto Uzumaki and Killer Bee. His role in the story is primarily that of the enforcer and guardian, clearing a path for Momoshiki and engaging in direct, brute-force combat against Earth's strongest defenders. He raids the Hidden Leaf Village during the chunin exams alongside Momoshiki, creating widespread destruction that allows them to capture Naruto.

The most significant relationship in Kinshiki's existence is with Momoshiki. He is fiercely protective of him, acting as a shield in battle and addressing him with the honorific "-sama." This bond is rooted in Otsutsuki tradition; much like a guardian sacrificed themselves to empower Kinshiki in the past, he is destined to do the same for Momoshiki. When the combined forces of the Five Kage, Sasuke, and Boruto overwhelm them, Kinshiki, grievously wounded, willingly offers himself. He urges Momoshiki to absorb him, transforming into a large chakra fruit or pill. Momoshiki consumes him, regenerating his injuries and transforming into a more powerful state. While this act is brutal by human standards, for the Otsutsuki, it is a ritual of inheritance, and Kinshiki faces his end with grim acceptance, having fulfilled his purpose.

In terms of development, Kinshiki remains a relatively static character, defined entirely by his duty. His arc is not one of internal change but of fulfilling his predetermined role within the clan's hierarchy. His background reveals a cycle of sacrifice; he himself was once empowered by his own guardian, explaining his acceptance of his fate as a tool for Momoshiki's ascension.

Kinshiki's notable abilities center on overwhelming physical power and unique weapon-based combat. His strength is immense, allowing him to trade blows equally with Sasuke Uchiha, shatter the arena floor with a single punch, and even cleave the gigantic God Tree in half with a single swing of his weapon. He uses a technique that allows him to materialize various red, glowing weapons, including axes, blades, and kanabo clubs, from a halo-like red ring floating behind him. He can also utilize Space-Time Ninjutsu to open portals and travel between dimensions, similar to Kamui. While he possesses the Byakugan, his fighting style relies more on his prodigious physical might and weapon skills, making him a formidable close-quarters combatant who can challenge even the most powerful shinobi.
