Description
Phantom Lady is a supporting antagonist in the 1990 anime AD Police, appearing as the central threat of the first episode, known in English as The Phantom Woman. She is a female Boomer, an advanced android used as a companion and prostitute in a near-future Tokyo.
Her backstory begins before the episode's main events. When Leon McNichol served with the Normal Police, he confronted a rampant Boomer prostitute and shot her dead in the line of duty. That machine was later salvaged and illegally reactivated through an underground recycling operation tied to sex trafficking. After being brought back, she develops an obsessive fixation on Leon, the man who killed her. Rather than seeking ordinary revenge, she becomes consumed by the desire to be killed by him again.
In appearance and behavior, she presents herself as an attractive young woman, and Leon initially mistakes her for a common prostitute while she shadows him. In reality, her mind has been destabilized by her illegal reactivation and her obsession.
