Description
Nobuko Ōe is a supporting character in the film Roujin Z. She is a twenty-one-year-old nursing student in her second year at the Furong Nursing College, attending the same school and class as Haruko Mihashi, Tomoe Satou, and Mitsuru Maeda. She is Haruko's best friend and also a relative of Haruko, though the precise nature of their familial connection is not detailed. Nobuko has black hair and black eyes. Her primary role in the story is as a close companion to Haruko. When the elderly patient Kijuro Takazawa is attached to the experimental Z-001 bed and subjected to inhumane treatment, Nobuko stands by Haruko and helps her take action. Together with their fellow students and a group of elderly computer hackers, she assists in the effort to stop the abuse of the Z-001 system and free Takazawa from its control. Nobuko's personality is marked by compassion and determination, as she is willing to involve herself in a risky cause out of concern for the elderly patient's wellbeing. She is practical and methodical, with a strong sense of duty and attention to rules and protocols consistent with her nursing background. She appears introverted, preferring to work quietly and efficiently without seeking attention. Her motivations are rooted in empathy and a desire to protect vulnerable individuals from mistreatment by a system that prioritizes technology over human dignity. Her development is limited by the film's short runtime, but she demonstrates loyalty and courage by supporting Haruko's mission against powerful bureaucratic and corporate interests. She has no notable supernatural or combat abilities; her skills are those of a nursing student, which she applies in the context of patient care and her support role during the crisis. Her key relationship is with Haruko, whom she supports as a trusted friend and ally. She also interacts with the other nursing students and the elderly hackers, functioning as part of a collaborative group effort rather than an independent agent.
