Description
Quon Kisaragi is a mysterious young girl of unknown age who occupies one of the central roles in RahXephon: Pluralitas Concentio. Within the film, she is introduced as a girl who sleeps buried in flowers in a place called the Chamber of Eternity, waiting for the moment when her true purpose is needed. In daily life, she lives with her older brother, chief researcher Itsuki Kisaragi, in quarters set apart from TERRA's main command center, where she is remembered as a gentle, kind, and honest presence who is well liked by the personnel around her.

Her personality is defined by an air of quiet mystery. She often expresses surprise or agreement with the soft utterance "Ra-ra" or "La-la," and most of her dialogue is cryptic, phrased in images drawn from music and hidden meaning. She is also one of the few people who never treats Ayato Kamina as a strange curiosity or an annoyance; instead she shows him a relaxed and trusting warmth, and the physical and emotional ease between them is greater than that shared by any other character. She appears to understand Ayato's situation and his destiny long before he does, and she addresses him as Ollin, a Nahuatl word meaning motion, as though naming the role he is meant to play. Her motivation flows from this understanding: she quietly supports Ayato and awaits his awakening so that the tuning of the world can take place, without ever forcing an explanation on him.

In the structure of the story, Quon is the other instrumentalist, the second being capable of conducting the tuning of the world alongside Ayato. While he acts in the world and struggles toward his awakening, she remains a passive, preserved figure, sleeping in the Chamber of Eternity until the final movement of the film, when her connection to Ayato becomes decisive. Like Ayato, she bears the marks of a potential instrumentalist, and she is shown undergoing examinations related to that capacity. Away from her home, she wears a vest-like life-support device called a Life Module, which hints at a body that exists in a fragile or suspended state and reinforces her role as a being kept in waiting for a single great purpose.

Her relationship with Itsuki Kisaragi is that of a younger sister cared for by her brother, placing her quietly at the edges of TERRA's operations while her warm manner keeps her well regarded by the staff. Her most important relationship is with Ayato. There is no romantic bond between them, yet their closeness is unmatched by any other connection in the film, and it is through that bond that her hidden nature is gradually revealed. She shows a childlike curiosity about the music other people listen to, at times removing their headphones to listen for herself, a small habit that reflects how central sound and music are to her entire way of being.

In terms of abilities, Quon is highly skilled on both the violin and the piano, and her manner of speaking and perceiving is shaped by music. Her most significant ability, however, is her nature as an instrumentalist: the power to synchronize with the RahXephon and to take part in re-tuning the world. Over the course of the film, she moves from a distant figure glimpsed in quiet scenes to an active participant in the climactic tuning, fulfilling the purpose for which she was preserved. She does not fight, but her presence and her gift hold the key to the story's resolution.
