Description
Cecil Aijima is a character who first appears as a secret, unlockable figure before becoming a central member of the idol group ST☆RISH. As the first prince of the fictional desert kingdom of Agnapolis, a land known for music and instrument crafting, his heritage is a key part of his identity. He is the son of the King of Agnapolis and a Japanese woman named Kotomi Aijima, making him of mixed heritage. This background is a source of significant conflict, as his royal relatives, particularly his uncle and cousins, persecuted him for being half-Japanese. Their hostility led to Cecil being cursed to live in the form of a black cat and subsequently banished to Japan.

While in Japan as a cat, he was found and cared for by the series' main protagonist, Haruka Nanami. She named the cat Kuppuru, and her kindness, combined with what is described as the power of her music, eventually broke the curse, restoring him to his human form. This event forged a deep and immediate devotion to Haruka, who becomes the central figure in his motivations. Initially, Cecil expresses little interest in becoming an idol, stating openly that his only concern is being with Haruka. His early days at the Saotome Academy are marked by a combination of cheeky confidence born from his royal upbringing and a lack of understanding of Japanese culture and social norms. This leads to humorous yet telling moments, such as casually attempting to purchase an entire shopping mall or failing at simple hiragana card games due to overconfidence. His desert origins also contribute to specific fears and dislikes, including a profound fear of water and an aversion to fish, as he cannot swim.

Cecil's personality is a blend of mystical insight and childlike curiosity. He is often shown to be deeply insightful and sensitive to the feelings of others, a trait possibly influenced by the spiritual traditions of his homeland, where the people serve the goddess of music, Muse. He wears a blue necklace that is said to contain muses which help him write poetry and connect with the divine. Despite this spiritual side, he is also prone to being unintentionally rude or too forward due to his inability to gauge social appropriateness in Japan. Over time, however, he matures, learning modesty and respect from his peers. His devotion to Haruka is unwavering, but his resolve to become a true idol is solidified when he witnesses the dedication of the other ST☆RISH members and sees how much it means to her. His journey is one of integration, learning to channel his royal dignity into a collaborative team setting while retaining his unique, earnest perspective.

In the story, Cecil becomes a member of ST☆RISH, joining them as the seventh member. His role within the group often involves offering advice and support to his fellow members, using his natural perceptiveness to help them overcome personal and professional challenges. For instance, he helps Masato Hijirikawa with acting insecurities by encouraging him to channel personal feelings into his performance. His key relationships include his rivalry and eventual respectful bond with his mentor, Camus, a senior idol from the group Quartet Night. Despite their conflicting personalities, Cecil is one of the few people who sees past Camus's harsh exterior and remains loyal to him, striving to make him proud. A deeply significant, though often unspoken, relationship is with fellow ST☆RISH member Otoya Ittoki. It is eventually revealed that Cecil and Otoya share the same mother, Kotomi. After giving birth to Otoya in Japan, Kotomi was lost in a plane crash over the desert, survived with amnesia, and later married Cecil's father, making them maternal half-brothers. This revelation adds a complex layer to their dynamic, though neither is fully aware of it in most adaptations.

Cecil's development throughout the series is notable. He transforms from a self-assured prince with no interest in idols into a committed and humble performer. His abilities are rooted in his royal lineage and musical connection to the goddess Muse. He is a specialist on the flute and is capable of using magic, a rare trait that confounds the otherwise realistic setting of the idol industry. He can temporarily break his cat curse through magic at the cost of draining his stamina, or through a kiss. His role is not just as a singer but as a bridge between the mystical traditions of Agnapolis and the modern world of Japanese idols, facing ongoing pressures from his homeland, including arranged political marriages and the choice between his throne and his career as an idol.
