Description
Ali, the physical manifestation of the Ring of Gluttony worn by Iruma Suzuki, evolves through Iruma’s demon rank progression. At Aleph (Rank 1), he appeared as a formless shadow resembling a small miasma ghost, driven by extreme hunger. This instinctual form emitted a demonic scream that incapacitated nearby demons and indiscriminately drained magical energy from anyone approaching Iruma until subdued by Sullivan’s offerings of magic.
Advancing to Bet (Rank 2) granted Ali limited consciousness, allowing him to sense danger and warn Iruma through the ring. At Gimel (Rank 3), he achieved full sentience and communication, adopting a permanent physical form via the Cherusil spell: a humanoid figure with one eye, large pointed ears, a tail linked to the ring, and attire including a black waistcoat, pants, gloves, shoes, and white shirt. His playful, prankster personality emerged, coupled with fierce protectiveness over Iruma, particularly regarding Iruma’s concealed human identity.
Upon Iruma reaching Dalet (Rank 4), Ali entered dormancy, awakening only at Hé (Rank 5). He then gained size manipulation—expanding to Iruma’s height or shrinking for concealment—and achieved physical separation from the ring while remaining within 15 meters of Iruma. He explicitly affirmed their symbiotic survival dependency during this stage.
Ali’s abilities include magic absorption, sensory capabilities, shapeshifting to alter his appearance (often teasing Iruma), and size manipulation. He induces temporary "wicked phase" personality shifts in Iruma—first spontaneously to clarify demon nature, later at Iruma’s request during the Evidol Games. Ali also manifests physical attributes on Iruma, such as temporary demon wings for deception or archery equipment during training.
His origins remain enigmatic. "Alikred" reverses to "Derkila," referencing the missing Demon King; shared voice actors in dubs imply a deep connection. Ali actively conceals his existence, retreating into the ring when others approach and discouraging Iruma from revealing him. Sullivan’s assertion that no spirit should inhabit the ring deepens the mystery.
Ali’s bond with Iruma centers on unwavering loyalty as his ring-bound master. He balances teasing Iruma over romantic denseness or crossdressing with genuine guidance and protection, especially shielding Iruma’s human identity. Their mutually dependent growth is intrinsically tied to Iruma’s rank advancements.
