TV-Series
Description
Quiche operates as a primary antagonist in the Tokyo Mew Mew universe, hailing from an alien race that formerly inhabited Earth before environmental catastrophes forced their exodus to a harsh, barely survivable planet. His people now strive to reclaim Earth by eradicating humanity, whom they hold responsible for the planet's degradation. Quiche arrives on Earth with fellow aliens Pie and Tart, assigned to deploy parasitic Chimera Anima against animals and humans as part of this mission.
He sports distinctive physical traits of his species: pointed ears, slit-pupiled golden eyes, pale skin, and small fangs. His dark green hair features two front sections tied with red ribbons. His characteristic attire includes a dark green crop top with puffed sleeves, brown accents, a red waistband, black thigh-length pants, bandage-like wrappings, and brown boots. In newer media like Tokyo Mew Mew New and the Re-Turn manga special, his appearance adapts to civilian settings, featuring items like a camouflage hoodie, light pants, and sneakers.
Quiche's personality merges playful charm with cruelty. He openly relishes tormenting humans and initially regards the Mew Mews—especially leader Ichigo Momomiya—as amusing playthings. He persistently harasses Ichigo, using nicknames like "kitty" and invading her personal space, while also making jealousy-fueled attempts to eliminate her human love interest, Masaya Aoyama. This behavior coexists with a deep mistrust of his own leader, Deep Blue, whose motives he questions despite outward compliance.
His combat role varies between adaptations. The original anime depicts him wielding dragon sais and employing electric attacks, while the manga and Tokyo Mew Mew New equip him with twin tonfas. He demonstrates strategic intelligence, such as exploiting Mew Aqua energy for his objectives, and exhibits fierce protectiveness over allies Pie and Tart, though he may lash out at them when angered.
Quiche undergoes significant evolution across the series. In the manga, his obsession with Ichigo culminates in a violent, unreciprocated love confession, followed by his turn against Deep Blue to protect her, leading to his temporary death. The anime portrays a clearer Heel–Face Turn during the final battle, where he allies with the Mew Mews upon realizing Deep Blue's betrayal, sacrificing himself to save Ichigo. Both continuities conclude with his resurrection via Mew Aqua, after which he and his comrades return to their homeworld to restore its environment.
In post-series narratives like the 2020 Re-Turn manga and Tokyo Mew Mew New, Quiche returns to Earth with Pie and Tart following their homeworld's restoration. Freed from their mission, they integrate into human society, adopting casual clothing and working at Café Mew Mew under Ryou Shirogane's supervision. Quiche retains lingering feelings for Ichigo but respects her relationship with Masaya, assisting her against Chimera Anima threats when necessary.
