ONA
Description
Garmr Utgardar is one of the seven new God Warriors who appear in Asgard. His identity is deeply intertwined with a secret mission, as he belongs to a family that has traditionally served as the shield of darkness protecting Asgard, a role that mirrors the sword of light embodied by the family of his fellow God Warrior, Frodi. Utgardar hails from Asgard in Northern Europe and became an Einherjar, a resurrected warrior, willingly giving up his human life to hide the Odin Robe within his own body after discovering that the priest Andreas had been possessed by the evil god Loki. His primary duty, before his rebirth, was to act as the shadow guardian of his homeland.

Utgardar is an exceptionally reserved and enigmatic figure, described by the servant Lyfia as the most mysterious of the God Warriors. He rarely speaks and never socializes with his comrades during their gatherings, a silence he maintains to avoid giving any hint of his true intentions. This quiet and watchful demeanor makes him appear cold and indifferent, but it is a calculated facade for a deeply selfless and strategic plan. His motivation is not to serve Andreas or conquer the Gold Saints, but to ensure the Odin Robe reaches a worthy individual capable of stopping Loki's plot to rule the world.

In the narrative, Utgardar is assigned to guard Helheim, the Chamber of the Dead, within the massive tree Yggdrasil. His role in the story is one of a hidden agent, appearing to be an enemy while secretly orchestrating events for the side of good. He first confronts the Gold Saint Libra Dohko in his chamber. During this fight, he deliberately allows his own helmet to be removed, revealing the markings of an Einherjar on his face, and engineers the destruction of the chamber's statue himself, rather than allowing the Gold Saint to destroy it. This act is part of his larger plan. His most crucial and controversial act is later entering Vanaheim, the Chamber of Heroes, and apparently murdering Lyfia, who was attempting to stop a fight between the Gold Saint Aiolia and Frodi.

This brutal act is revealed to be the final test of his plan, aimed directly at Frodi. Utgardar understands the ancient law of his family and Frodi's: when the shield of darkness and the sword of light fight, one is destined to die. He provokes Frodi into a deadly battle by taking Lyfia’s life, knowing it will push his comrade past his limits. As they fight, Utgardar uses his abilities to push Frodi, not to kill him, but to force him to confront his own convictions and resolve to protect Asgard's future. Upon seeing that Frodi's determination has evolved from personal vengeance to a selfless desire to save their home, Utgardar drops his defenses and allows Frodi to land a fatal blow. As he dies standing, his body opens to reveal the shining Odin Robe he had hidden inside himself, entrusting it to a now-enlightened Frodi to deliver to the true hero who could defeat Loki.

Utgardar undergoes little personal change, as his entire arc is the execution of a pre-determined and masterful plan. However, his role in the story develops from that of a silent, suspicious warrior to a tragic hero whose extreme sacrifice and foresight are crucial to the Gold Saints' ultimate victory. His key relationship is with Frodi, not as an enemy, but as the counterpart who must defeat him to complete his mission. His interactions with Dohko serve only to begin the process of revealing his true nature as an Einherjar.

In terms of abilities, Utgardar is a formidable warrior, possessing power considered to be among the highest of the new God Warriors. He wears the Garmr God Robe, a dark purple and maroon armor that covers most of his body, including his face. His primary weapon is the large, curved maroon sword Dáinsleif, a magical blade said to be able to track its target relentlessly until it hits. His signature technique is Hallucination Wolf or Hallucination Loup, which uses his sword to summon phantasmal wolves that endlessly pursue and devour his opponent. He is also shown to possess great speed and agility, capable of avoiding powerful attacks and delivering devastating counter-blows.
