Description
Aiolos du Sagittaire is a Gold Saint from the 20th century who, despite his physical death fourteen years prior to the main events of the original series, plays a crucial role in the events of Soul of Gold. He is the elder brother of Aiolia du Lion, a figure to whom he is deeply connected, and is widely remembered as a paragon of loyalty and righteousness.

In the original timeline, Aiolos was considered the strongest of the Gold Saints alongside his contemporary, Gemini Saga. He was chosen to succeed the Pope, but this led to his downfall when the evil side of Saga, disguised as the Pope, attempted to murder the infant Athena. Aiolos rescued the goddess, fleeing the Sanctuary while being pursued and ultimately fatally wounded by Capricorn Shura. Before dying, he entrusted both the infant Athena and the Sagittarius Gold Cloth to Mitsumasa Kido, setting the entire story of the original series in motion.

In Soul of Gold, Aiolos is one of the twelve Gold Saints who are miraculously revived in Asgard by the power of Odin. This resurrection is not a permanent return to life, but a temporary opportunity for the legendary saints to battle a new threat. His personality remains consistent with the legacy he left behind; he is portrayed as a noble, courageous, and selfless individual, often called the embodiment of a model saint. He is driven by his unwavering duty to protect Athena and his deep, fraternal care for his younger brother, Aiolia, with whom he is finally able to reunite and fight alongside.

Within the story of Soul of Gold, Aiolos serves as a pillar of strength and inspiration, particularly for his brother. After his revival, he seeks answers about their resurrection and confronts Andreas Lysander, the ruler of Asgard who is in league with the villainous god Loki. During this confrontation, his Gold Cloth is captured by the evil barrier of the Yggdrasil, but he survives this ordeal. His key relationship is undoubtedly with Aiolia; after years of his brother believing him to be a traitor, they are finally able to stand together as allies. Throughout the final battle, Aiolos remains close to Aiolia, providing crucial support. In the climax against the god Loki, Aiolos aids his brother in landing the decisive blow, demonstrating their combined strength.

Throughout Soul of Gold, Aiolos demonstrates the immense power expected of a saint of his caliber. His signature technique is the Golden Arrow, a projectile of light and flames fired from the bow of the Sagittarius Cloth. This attack is said to be immensely powerful, capable of wounding even gods when infused with sufficient cosmos. He is also able to unleash powerful光束拳, a barrage of punches at the speed of light, and techniques like Atomic Thunder Bolt. His combat speed and reactions are on the level of light itself, a standard ability for Gold Saints. Ultimately, after the threat of Loki is defeated, Aiolos, along with the other revived Gold Saints, turns to dust, returning from the temporary resurrection as their duty in Asgard comes to an end.
