ONA
Description
Lifia, also known as Lyfia, is a central character in Saint Seiya: Soul of Gold. She is a young woman from the kingdom of Asgard, orphaned at an early age and taken in by Hilda of Polaris, the earthly representative of Odin. Hilda raised her as a servant in the Valhalla palace, and Lifia grew up deeply loyal to her and to the land of Asgard.
Lifia is characterized by her strong will and determination. Despite her youth and lack of combat training, she possesses an unwavering sense of justice and a deep compassion for her people. When Hilda falls mysteriously ill and the ambitious Andreas rises to power, claiming to bring prosperity through the revived Yggdrasil tree, Lifia is the only person who openly distrusts him. Acting on Hilda’s last wish, she escapes from Valhalla to seek help and is soon imprisoned. In her cell she encounters Aiolia of Leo, a Gold Saint unexpectedly resurrected in Asgard, and she pleads with him to save her homeland.
Throughout the story, Lifia serves as the moral anchor and guide for the Gold Saints, explaining the workings of Yggdrasil and the God Warriors. She forms a close bond with Aiolia, who comes to trust her judgment and protect her. Her relationship with Hilda is that of a devoted servant and almost a daughter, and her opposition to Andreas is fueled by her loyalty to Hilda’s true wishes. She also interacts with several God Warriors, notably Frodi, who witnesses a mysterious change in her personality.
A major aspect of Lifia’s character is the hidden second personality lurking within her. This sinister alter ego appears at critical moments and displays an unsettling interest in the power of the Gold Saints. The nature of this duality is a key mystery in the series, tied to her eventual role as a vessel for greater forces. As the plot unfolds, Lifia is revealed to be the chosen new representative of Odin after Hilda’s incapacitation. In the final battle against the evil god Loki, she combines her will with Aiolia’s, enabling him to wear the Odin Robe and wield the Draupnir ring and Odin’s sword. Her own power merges with his to corner Loki, though the strain of channeling Odin’s energy nearly overwhelms her.
In terms of abilities, Lifia has no innate combat skills. Her strength lies in her mental fortitude, her pure heart, and her deep connection to Asgard’s spiritual heritage. By the series’ end, she gains the ability to channel Odin’s divine power, acting as a catalyst for Aiolia’s transformation and playing a direct part in the defeat of Loki. Her development from a simple servant to the new earthly representative of Odin represents a significant arc, as she embraces her destiny and helps restore peace to Asgard.
