Description
Petit Charat, commonly called Puchiko, is a young catgirl from the planet Di Gi Charat who appears as a main character in the anime film Di Gi Charat: A Trip to the Planet. She is about five years old and is a small child with long brown hair, brown eyes, cat ears, a cat tail, and small cat bells worn in her hair. Her usual outfit is a sailor-style school uniform with blue bloomers and orange boots, and she habitually ends her sentences with the syllable nyu.
Puchiko comes from the same home world as Dejiko, and the exact nature of their bond is portrayed differently across the franchise. In some versions she is introduced as Dejiko's sidekick who began following her after Dejiko rescued her, while in the film and other installments she is presented as Dejiko's younger sister. In A Trip to the Planet, Dejiko decides to take a vacation back to Planet Di Gi Charat, and Puchiko travels with her, along with the guardian Gema and the accidental stowaway Rabi~en~Rose. When Piyoko and the Black Gema Gema Corps pursue the group in space to capture Dejiko, Puchiko is part of the party caught up in the resulting journey and its complications.
In terms of personality, Puchiko is quiet and speaks little, keeping a calm and composed demeanor even in situations where Dejiko and others panic. She has a Type B personality and, despite her gentle appearance, can respond with an unexpectedly sharp tongue when provoked. Her motivations center on her loyalty to Dejiko; she accompanies her companion out of gratitude and devotion, and in the film she joins the return trip home without hesitation. Her quiet presence often serves as a counterbalance to Dejiko's more excitable nature.
Puchiko possesses abilities similar to Dejiko's, including an eye-beam attack. However, she is usually too docile to summon the aggression needed to use it effectively, and her attempts can misfire, sometimes producing odd results such as sludge from her eyes. Over the course of later installments of the franchise, she shows noticeable development, eventually undergoing princess training in one series and later appearing as a teenager with a more mature and less snarky personality while working a part-time job in the spin-off Winter Garden.
