Description
Petit Charat, commonly called Puchiko, is a young catgirl from the planet Di Gi Charat whose full name is Cappuccino. In Di Gi Charat Nyo she is about five years old and accompanies the princess Di Gi Charat, known as Dejiko, to Earth as part of a princess training program arranged by Dejiko's mother. After the journey separates the two, Puchiko settles at the Ankorodo Cake Shop, a traditional Japanese-style bakery, while Dejiko lives at a toy store, and the pair keep in contact through special devices called Mystery Phones. In this telling she is sometimes identified as a tiger girl, and she acts as Dejiko's assistant and constant companion.
Puchiko is small in stature, with brown hair, dark brown eyes, cat ears, and a tail. She wears a sailor-style school uniform with small cat bells in her hair, smaller than the ones Dejiko wears. She characteristically ends her sentences with the syllable "nyu," a speech pattern shared in spirit by the other cat characters of the series. Though her design resembles Dejiko's, her overall presence is far more subdued.
Her personality is defined by quietness and composure. Puchiko rarely speaks at length, but when she does speak she can be unexpectedly sharp-tongued, delivering blunt observations that tend to hit their mark. She is calm, stoic, and slow to anger, and she keeps her composure in situations where Dejiko and others panic. She has what is described as a Type B personality and carries an interest in the occult. Her stated favorite food is rare steak, though in practice she is often seen eating natto.
Her motivations center on loyalty and duty. She came to Earth for princess training and stays at Ankorodo as part of that goal while also supporting Dejiko. The origin of her devotion to Dejiko is explained in earlier franchise material: Dejiko once rescued her from being stuck in a hole, and Puchiko began following her out of gratitude, with later stories establishing the two as sisters who share the same parents. Within Di Gi Charat Nyo, their bond remains central to her character, and she serves as the calm counterpart to Dejiko's louder, lazier personality.
