Description
Lucifer Hawk is the collective name for a species of extra-dimensional beings that serve as the primary antagonistic force in Silent Möbius: The Motion Picture. Originating from a parallel dimension known as Nemesis, these creatures were inadvertently unleashed upon Earth through the failed Project Gaia, a magical experiment intended to exchange polluted air and water between worlds that was sabotaged and perverted by the sorcerer Ganossa Maximilian. Lucifer Hawks are not a single individual but a diverse and hierarchical species, ranging from low-level animalistic forms to highly intelligent, humanoid entities with formidable magical power.

The Attacked Mystification Police Department classifies Lucifer Hawks into three main categories. Category III creatures are little more than animals, often resembling snakes, mantas, or other bestial forms, and are easily killed with ordinary handguns. Category II beings possess slightly less than human intelligence and modest magical abilities; they commonly summon lower‑ranking Lucifer Hawks as minions. Category I Lucifer Hawks are typically humanoid in appearance, as intelligent as humans, and wield magical power comparable to that of the most skilled human mages. They are highly articulate and prone to psychological manipulation and mind games. In the television series, a hypothetical Category IV is mentioned, representing human‑Lucifer Hawk hybrids such as the Cheyenne sisters, but this classification does not appear in the motion picture.

All Lucifer Hawks are shapeshifters to varying degrees. Weaker ones can only alter their physical form within limits, while the most powerful can assume a fully human appearance. Large groups of lower‑level Lucifer Hawks can collectively take the form of massive objects, such as the AMP’s Simurgh command vehicle. They can meld with physical structures like buildings or computers, and stronger individuals possess remarkable regenerative abilities. They are also capable of interbreeding with humans, a fact that has produced hybrids with inherited powers. The sentient magical sword Grospoliner reveals that even some human mages, including the protagonist Katsumi Liqueur, carry distant blood ties to Lucifer Hawks from ancient liaisons.

In Silent Möbius: The Motion Picture, the Lucifer Hawks act as the relentless invaders that the all‑female Attacked Mystification Police are formed to combat. Their primary motivation is to regain control of their lost home dimension, which was disrupted by Project Gaia, and they are willing to cause massive destruction to achieve that goal. Under the leadership of Ganossa Maximillian and his second, Rosa Cheyenne, they wage a war of dominance over both Earth and Nemesis. The film depicts their attacks on Tokyo, their pursuit of Katsumi due to her innate connection to the super‑dimensional gateway, and their role in triggering the release of her sealed magical abilities. The Lucifer Hawk species is thus defined by its variety, adaptability, magical prowess, and its central role as the catalyst for the story’s conflict, serving as a persistent and shape‑shifting threat that forces the human characters to confront their own latent powers and responsibilities.
