Nachiko is a female squid who serves as a supporting character in the world of Pugyuru. Her most distinctive feature is wearing a human mask that visibly expresses her emotions and moves its mouth when she speaks. In addition to her everyday mask, she possesses separate masks for different occasions, including one for going out, one for dating, and one for attacking. Her fake head is adorned with black hair. Despite her unusual appearance, she considers herself a childhood friend and self-proclaimed rival of Cheko. Her role in the story revolves largely around this rivalry, though she interacts with the other eccentric characters as well. Nachiko's personality is marked by a persistent but somewhat one-sided competitive attitude toward Cheko. Over the course of the series, her appearances become less frequent, and in the manga her final appearance occurred in the third volume, as the creator reportedly grew tired of drawing her. A peculiar seasonal trait is that in summer she becomes a cooked squid. Beyond her multiple faces, she does not exhibit any other notable supernatural or combat abilities.
