Description
Lulu De Morcerf Yamamoto is a fourteen-year-old girl of French origin who appears as an anime-only character in Shugo Chara!! Doki. She has fair skin, sky-blue eyes, and curly blonde hair cut to shoulder length. Born in France, she is the daughter of a famous chef and an actress. Her full name includes the Japanese surname Yamamoto, likely reflecting her family’s mixed heritage. Lulu moves to Japan when her mother begins working in variety shows, a career shift that Lulu believes has diminished her mother’s talent.

Lulu is initially presented as polished and sophisticated, but she harbors a more unassuming side represented by her guardian character, Nana. Nana speaks with a thick Nagoya accent, which sometimes slips out in Lulu’s own speech, revealing her true, less refined nature. Lulu’s primary motivation is her desire to restore her mother’s acting career to the high-quality film roles she once held. To achieve this, she seeks the Embryo, a legendary egg said to grant any wish. She joins the Easter Company, ostensibly as an employee, but works for her own goal.

Lulu possesses a ruby necklace that allows her to turn ordinary people’s Heart’s Eggs into Mystery Eggs. This process corrupts the egg’s owner, forcing them into a twisted character transformation that reflects a distorted version of their dreams. She often manipulates her victims psychologically before activating the transformation, causing chaos among bystanders. Throughout much of the series, Lulu serves as an antagonist to the Guardians, particularly Amu Hinamori. She gathers numerous Mystery Eggs and sends them to fight the Guardians, escalating her efforts as the story progresses.

Lulu’s key relationship is with Amu, who discovers her actions and attempts to persuade her to stop. In a climactic confrontation, Lulu turns even Nana into a Mystery Egg and undergoes a forced character transformation of her own, becoming Dream Dream. Amu convinces Lulu that she is imposing her own dream onto her mother, who does not actually want to return to serious film acting. Lulu realizes her mistake, regrets her actions, and allows Amu to purify her with Open Heart. Afterward, Lulu opens her heart to her mother, expressing that she simply wants to see her act again because that is when she shines brightest. Her mother reveals she started doing variety shows to spend more time with Lulu. They reconcile, and her mother accepts a role in a film by a famous French director, prompting the family to return to France.

Lulu’s development shows her moving from a manipulative, single-minded antagonist to a character who understands the importance of respecting others’ authentic wishes. Her hobby is making jewelry, and her last name is likely a reference to the novel The Count of Monte Cristo. She leaves Japan having learned that true dreams cannot be forced onto others.
