TV-Series
Description
Nana is the Guardian Character of Lulu de Morcerf, born from Lulu's childhood inability to decide what she wanted to be when she grew up. As a Shugo Chara, Nana embodies Lulu's suppressed wish to be carefree, explore new experiences, and break free from her strict, aristocratic upbringing. She manifests as a small girl with long red hair and blue eyes, speaking with a distinctive Nagoyan dialect that often leads her to use casual, folksy phrases. Nana's personality is outwardly sweet and delicate, but she has a mischievous, eccentric streak and encourages Lulu to try many different things without worrying about others' expectations. In the story, Nana plays a key role in Lulu's scheme to extract Mystery Eggs from people's hearts, as she provides the means for Lulu to transform ordinary Heart Eggs into corrupted versions using a special necklace. This ability makes her central to the conflict introduced in the second season, where the Guardian Characters must purify those eggs. Nana's relationship with Lulu is close but complicated; she represents the part of Lulu that wants to rebel against her refined upbringing. She also shares a somewhat tense dynamic with Yoru, another Guardian Character, often clashing due to their contrasting natures. Over the course of the series, Nana shows development when she becomes seriously ill in episodes eighty-eight and eighty-nine, an event that forces Lulu to confront her own feelings and ultimately leads to Nana accidentally revealing Lulu's secret activities to Amu Hinamori. This illness and subsequent recovery mark a turning point in Nana's bond with Lulu, strengthening their connection as Lulu learns to accept her true self. Nana's notable ability, aside from assisting in egg extraction, is her power to inspire Lulu to character change, allowing Lulu to temporarily take on Nana's carefree and adventurous traits.
