A year before Nikuko and her daughter Kikuko arrived, he lost his wife, plunging him into loneliness and nearly driving him to close his business. During this bleak period, he crossed paths with Nikuko, whose spirited presence revitalized his life, earning her the title “God of Meat.” He hired her to work at Uogashi, then offered his unused fishing boat as a home for the pair, gradually weaving them into his world as cherished surrogate family.
