TV Special
Description
Mira Julietta Vesparand is the princess of the Kingdom of Vespania, a nineteen-year-old royal who unexpectedly becomes the sole heir to the throne after the sudden deaths of her mother, Queen Sakura, and her older brother, Prince Gill. Initially portrayed as a tough young woman with a somewhat selfish streak, she is deeply reluctant to accept the crown. She does not believe she is the rightful successor and struggles with the overwhelming pressure of responsibility, especially as a growing popular movement questions her fitness to rule. Her primary motivation throughout the story is to escape the burdens of her royal position and the grief of losing her family, leading her to seek freedom and anonymity.
Her role in the narrative is that of a catalyst for the crossover plot. While visiting Japan on a diplomatic trip meant to boost her public image, she encounters Ran Mouri, who bears an uncanny resemblance to her. Seizing the opportunity, Mira convinces Ran to switch places so she can slip away from her duties and experience ordinary life. This swap sets off a chain of events that brings the characters of both series together, drawing Conan Edogawa, Lupin III, and their respective allies into the mystery behind the royal deaths. Mira is later taken under the wing of Fujiko Mine, who helps her rediscover the joys of everyday life, a period that softens her earlier cynical and fatalistic attitude.
Key relationships shape her development. Her bond with Ran is based on a physical resemblance and a rare moment of trust, while her interactions with Fujiko provide her with the freedom she craves and ultimately a chance to heal. Count Keith Dan Stinger, the chief of commons, acts as her stern but protective advisor, and Daisuke Jigen serves as her personal bodyguard. Her growth is marked by a journey from rejection of her heritage to acceptance: after visiting the site where her mother and brother died, she decides to assume her duties as future queen and returns to Vespania to face her destiny. She does not possess any special combat or investigative skills; her abilities lie in her resourcefulness, her capacity to adapt to unexpected situations, and the gradual emergence of the strength and resolve needed to lead her kingdom. By the conclusion of the story, Mira Julietta Vesparand transforms from a reluctant princess into a poised and determined sovereign, ready to take her place on the throne.
