TV-Series
Description
Karin Miyoshi is a second-year middle school student and a key member of the Hero Club at Sanshu Middle School. She is fourteen years old with brown hair tied into two pigtails using red and black ribbons and olive-green eyes. Standing at 151 centimeters tall, Karin has a birthday of June 12 and blood type B.

Karin is introduced as a transfer student who initially presents herself as a professional hero sent by the Taisha, the organization that oversees the hero system, to supervise the other club members. Unlike Yuna Yuki, Mimori Togo, and the Inubozaki sisters who were suddenly selected during a Vertex attack, Karin has undergone rigorous training specifically to become a hero. She explains that she was directly chosen and has been preparing for her duties for a long time, positioning herself as an elite compared to the others.

Her personality is marked by a strong sense of duty and pride in her role as a hero. Karin is stubborn, abrasive, and has difficulty expressing her feelings toward others. This social awkwardness stems from years of constant training that left no time for making friends, and she claims to have never had a birthday party in her life. She has an inferiority complex rooted in her family relationships, particularly regarding her older brother who excels in all areas and receives most of the family's attention. Being chosen as a hero represented the first time she truly felt needed and recognized by others. Because of this, her job as a hero is not merely a role but a fundamental part of her identity and reason for existing.

Despite her prickly exterior, Karin is revealed to be a kind and lonely girl. She is extremely dedicated to her health, enjoys taking nutritional supplements, and has a particular fondness for dried anchovies as a snack. Her favorite food is udon noodles.

In the story, Karin is assigned to monitor the Hero Club but slowly becomes integrated into the group. She initially tries to maintain distance, claiming she is only there for observation, but the persistent friendliness of the other members, especially Yuna, gradually breaks down her walls. The Hero Club surprises her with a birthday party at her apartment, a gesture that touches her deeply as she has never experienced such friendship before. This marks a turning point where she begins to open up and find a new purpose beyond simply fulfilling her duty as a hero.

Her most significant relationship is with Yuna Yuki, who first approached Karin without hesitation and helped guide her toward finding meaning in her own life. Karin develops what can be described as a tsundere attitude toward Yuna, appearing harsh on the surface but harboring deep affection underneath. She eventually declares that she no longer fights as a hero of the Taisha, but as a member of the Hero Club, specifically stating she does not want to see Yuna cry. Her relationship with other club members evolves similarly, as she comes to cherish her colleagues as genuine friends.

Karin undergoes substantial development throughout the series. She transforms from a solitary warrior who views herself as nothing more than an instrument of battle into a devoted companion willing to sacrifice everything for those she cares about. The most dramatic demonstration of this development occurs during a critical battle where she faces countless vertices alone. Karin uses her Mankai ability four consecutive times, destroying the invading threats but losing bodily functions with each use. She loses the use of one leg, one arm, both eyes, and both ears, rendering her sight and hearing completely paralyzed. Despite these horrific injuries that make daily life and hero activities seem impossible, she continues to fight, finding the enemy through touch alone. In this moment, she thanks Yuna for showing her what friendship truly means and for helping her change from being merely a tool for the Taisha.

Notable abilities as a hero include exceptional combat prowess befitting her self-proclaimed elite status. She wields twin katana in a style reminiscent of a ninja, fighting with grace and speed. Karin can throw multiple swords to strike at range and make them explode upon impact. She was capable of performing the Vertex sealing ceremony on her own from the beginning, demonstrating her advanced training. Her Mankai form manifests as four giant mechanical arms, each wielding a large version of her katana. In this state, she can fire a rain of swords and unleash powerful sword beams. However, her Mankai form is somewhat fragile, dissipating after taking a single hit, but it possesses overwhelming offensive strength capable of destroying a Vertex with one strike. Despite her technical skill and power, Karin initially lags behind the other heroes in actual combat experience due to her lack of real battles.
