TV-Series
Description
Shizuku Yamabushi is a 13-year-old second-year middle school student with brown eyes, pale skin, and standing 156 cm tall. She wears her school uniform beneath a large jacket, accessorized with a choker, white skirt, and black thigh socks. Her hairstyle features bangs covering one eye, resembling cat ears. This appearance shifts dramatically when her alternate personality emerges, revealing both eyes with a hazel/yellow hue, bedraggled hair, and rolled-up sleeves.
She originates from Tokushima Prefecture and endured severe childhood abuse from mentally unstable parents, leading to the development of Dissociative Identity Disorder. Her second personality, SHIZUKU, formed as a survival mechanism during this violent home life. Both parents committed suicide before the series' events. During elementary school at Shinju-kan, she lived in isolation but became intrigued upon learning about the second generation of heroes.
Her primary personality is quiet and reserved, often communicating nonverbally by tugging sleeves. She diligently follows tasks and avoids social interaction. In stark contrast, SHIZUKU is aggressive, defiant, and combat-driven, rejecting authority and rushing into battles. This alter surfaces when Shizuku feels threatened. Despite their differences, both personalities gradually integrate into the Sentinel group.
As the ninth-ranked Sentinel, she serves in the offensive gunning squad, wielding a bayonetted rifle. Her combat dress incorporates green armor for flame resistance. SHIZUKU demonstrates significantly enhanced physical strength and combat prowess compared to Shizuku's baseline abilities. Key battles include SHIZUKU tearing apart a Vertex after emerging during a near-death encounter, sustaining injuries from the Scorpio Vertex that interrupted the Kuni-zukuri Ritual, and facing lethal danger during the Capricorn and Virgo Vertex confrontation until Miroku Yumiko shielded her from explosions.
Her relationships evolve throughout her story. She forms a strong attachment to Kusunoki Mebuki, often staying close or holding her sleeve for security. Initially, SHIZUKU resents Mebuki's leadership, challenging her to a duel and criticizing her hero aspirations. After losing the duel, SHIZUKU gradually accepts Mebuki's authority. With Miroku Yumiko, she develops mutual reliance, evidenced when Yumiko sacrifices herself to protect SHIZUKU in battle. She also knew the second-generation heroes from Shinju-kan, recalling Minowa Gin during critical moments.
Character development occurs through group interactions and trauma processing. Shizuku expresses gratitude to Mebuki for accepting SHIZUKU as part of the Sentinels, sharing details of her abusive past and the alter's origin. Both personalities sign a hospital padlock after a battle, symbolizing their integration into the team. SHIZUKU eventually acknowledges regret over endangering Shizuku despite her protective purpose, showing evolving self-awareness during life-threatening situations.
