Description
Ginga Hagane is the main protagonist of the Beyblade: Metal Fusion series. He is a young boy from Japan with a slim build, long red spiky hair, and gold-brown eyes. His appearance is marked by a distinctive long white scarf, a blue short-sleeved jacket over an orange shirt, and a blue headband featuring a Pegasus symbol. He nearly always wears a small white bandage on his nose, which is considered a signature part of his look.

Primarily, Ginga is known for being a calm, friendly, and highly optimistic person who looks on the bright side of any situation. He has a laid-back and independent nature, often seen sleeping in unusual places and doing whatever he feels like doing. However, this relaxed demeanor belies a fierce passion for Beyblading; he lives for the excitement of battle and loves nothing more than facing a strong opponent, never backing down from a challenge. Ginga is incredibly dedicated to his friends and his beyblade, Pegasus, and will do anything to protect them from harm. His core belief is that the true strength in a battle comes from one's spirit and the bonds of friendship, rather than just attack or defense statistics. Despite his usual bravery, he has notable fears, including a well-documented phobia of needles, injections, and medical treatment in general. He also has a strong distaste for hot dogs, while hamburgers are his favorite food.

Ginga’s past is central to his character. He was raised in Koma Village by his father, Ryo Hagane, who was a legendary Blader and the original owner of the Pegasus Beyblade. His life was shattered when he witnessed his father seemingly die in a battle against Ryuga, the wielder of the forbidden Beyblade Lightning L-Drago. Before the mountain cave collapsed on him, Ryo launched his Pegasus to his son, entrusting it to Ginga and setting him on his path as a Blader. This trauma fueled a deep, burning hatred for Ryuga, a hatred that for a time consumed Ginga and made him forget the joy of Beyblading, focusing solely on revenge. This drive to avenge his father and reclaim L-Drago is his primary motivation at the start of the series, though his goal evolves to include stopping the evil Dark Nebula organization and protecting the world.

Throughout the story, Ginga serves as a charismatic hero who inspires others with his dedication and knowledge of Beyblading. He takes on a big brother mentor role to Kenta Yumiya, a younger and less experienced Blader who becomes his first close friend in the city. His key relationships also include his friendly rivalry with Kyoya Tategami, a fellow powerful Blader who starts as an enemy but becomes a trusted ally and friend. Madoka Amano, a Beyblade mechanic, supports him by maintaining his gear and acting as a voice of reason. Ginga’s relationship with Ryuga is the most complex; while it begins as pure animosity driven by revenge, it eventually evolves into a grudging respect as Ginga recognizes that Ryuga is being controlled by the dark power of L-Drago, culminating in a desire to save him rather than simply destroy him.

Ginga undergoes significant development. After his initial defeat by Ryuga, his Storm Pegasus is destroyed, forcing him to seek a new Beyblade: the incredibly powerful but uncontrollable Galaxy Pegasus. He struggles to master its power, feeling disconnected from the thrill of battle, but ultimately succeeds by forging a new bond with his partner. Later, in Metal Fury, he is chosen as one of the Legendary Bladers, representing the season of Autumn and the planet Earth, and his Beyblade evolves into Cosmic Pegasus. His philosophy also matures; he learns to balance his desire for enjoyable, friendly matches with the fierce will and intensity needed to win critical battles against evil.

As a Blader, Ginga specializes in Attack types. His signature Beyblade moves often involve Pegasus descending from the sky or creating powerful gusts of wind. His primary special moves include the Shooting Star Attack (also known as Starblast Attack), Tornado Wing, Storm Bringer, and the ultimate Galaxy Nova. He possesses incredible natural talent and an unbreakable spirit that allows him to push past his limits, especially when his friends are cheering for him.
