Description
Mahoro Ando is the central character of her story, a powerful combat android originally designated as unit V1046-R MAHORO. She was created by the secret organization Vesper to fight against an alien invasion known as Saint, where her speed and power made her a formidable opponent. After years of service, Mahoro is informed that her operational lifespan is limited; at the beginning of her story, she has only 398 days remaining before she will cease to function. Given the freedom to choose how to spend her final days, she decides to become a maid for Suguru Misato, a middle school student living alone. This decision is rooted in a painful past: Suguru's father was her superior commander, and she was forced to kill him when an alien took him hostage, an act she carries deep regret over. By serving his son, she seeks a form of redemption for that tragic event.
Mahoro has a sweet-natured, well-mannered, and kind-hearted personality, which quickly makes her a beloved figure in her new community. She is an excellent cook, capable of turning even the simplest leftover ingredients into a nutritious and delicious meal. Despite her formidable combat abilities, she has a gentle and sunny disposition, becoming a welcomed regular at local markets and gaining a reputation at Suguru's school as the perfect maid. She is also known for one particular and very firm belief: that dirty thoughts are bad. With her signature catchphrase, "Ecchi na no wa ikenai to omoimasu," she reacts very strongly to anything she considers perverted, particularly the pornographic magazines she frequently confiscates from Suguru. She was trained to hold this view by Suguru's father himself. Mahoro is also self-conscious about her petite appearance, especially her small chest, which is a source of embarrassment for her and becomes a recurring point of contrast with other characters.
Her primary motivation is to atone for her past and use her remaining time to bring happiness and order to Suguru's life.
