Description
The character known in the French adaptation as Camille Rivière is originally named Chibiusa Tsukino, also referred to as Small Lady or Princess Usagi Small Lady Serenity in the original Japanese version. As Sailor Chibi Moon, she is a Sailor Guardian and the future daughter of Usagi Tsukino (Sailor Moon) and Mamoru Chiba (Tuxedo Mask), hailing from the 30th century Crystal Tokyo. Despite being over 900 years old due to the longevity granted by the Silver Crystal, she appears and behaves as a young child, around six to nine years old physically and mentally. She first traveled back to the 20th century to escape the Black Moon clan and to obtain the legendary Silver Crystal to save her mother, Neo-Queen Serenity, who had fallen into a coma.
In Sailor Moon S, which corresponds to the Infinity arc, Chibiusa returns to the present time to continue her training and to find the three talismans necessary to stop the destruction of the world. Her civilian appearance is distinctive, featuring pink hair styled into two pigtails that resemble rabbit ears, paired with dark red eyes. Her birthday is June 30th, making her a Cancer, with a blood type of O positive. Her favorite colors are red and pink, reflecting her Sailor uniform, and she has a particular fondness for collecting rabbit-themed items and eating flan, while notably disliking carrots. Her hobbies include arguing with her future mother, Usagi, a dynamic that often resembles sibling rivalry more than a typical mother-daughter relationship due to Usagi's own immaturity.
Personality-wise, Chibiusa initially presents as bratty, spoiled, and mischievous, frequently teasing Usagi about her poor grades and clumsiness. However, this exterior masks a more vulnerable and sweet-natured child, deeply traumatized by the dark future she fled from and the loneliness of having no friends her own age. Her primary motivation in Sailor Moon S is personal growth; she is on a mission from her future mother to forge everlasting friendships with children in the past and to mature into a proper lady. This quest leads her to develop a profound and protective bond with Hotaru Tomoe, a lonely and ill girl her age whom the other Sailor Guardians view with suspicion. Chibiusa's unwavering faith in Hotaru, refusing to believe she is evil even when possessed by the entity Mistress 9, is a cornerstone of her character development in this season, highlighting her deep loyalty and capacity for love.
As a Sailor Guardian in training, Sailor Chibi Moons abilities are notably less refined and powerful than her fellow Soldiers, often leading to comedic failures in combat. Her primary attack is the Pink Sugar Heart Attack, which is depicted as weak, unreliable, and lacking the destructive force of other attacks, sometimes even drooping to the ground before reaching its target. To compensate for her poor offensive capabilities and short range, she relies on clever tricks and utility items, most notably her magical transformation compact, which can shapeshift into various useful objects like a hypnosis device or communication tool. She also possesses a space-time key that allows for time travel, though this is more of a story device than a combat ability. Despite her weaknesses, her agility and high mobility, including a double jump, make her difficult to hit in a fight. Her role is that of an apprentice, and her significance lies less in her combat power and more in her emotional resilience and her ability to connect with others, which ultimately proves crucial in redeeming characters like Hotaru. Her key relationships in this season include her complicated, sister-like bond with Usagi, her admiration for Mamoru, and her burgeoning friendship with the Outer Senshi, particularly Haruka and Michiru, who initially dismiss her as a liability but come to respect her determination. She also holds a special connection with the flying unicorn Pegasus, a destined encounter that becomes central to the following season, Sailor Moon SuperS.
