Description
Eugénia, known as Eudial, is a fictional antagonist from the Sailor Moon S series, serving as the first prominent member of the Witches 5, a coven of female scientists working under the villainous organization known as the Death Busters. Her background is shrouded in mystery, as the narrative provides no details regarding her life prior to joining the organization or the circumstances that led her to align with its apocalyptic goals of summoning the entity Pharaoh 90 to bring about the Silence. In her role with the Death Busters, she operates out of a laboratory, though she is also implied to be associated with the prestigious Mugen Academy, which serves as a front for the group's activities.

Eudial is characterized by a brilliant but arrogant and overly confident personality. She possesses a short temper and a strong desire to be in control of every situation, often becoming visibly frustrated and annoyed when her meticulous plans go wrong. Despite these flaws, she is portrayed as highly dedicated to her work and a true professional in her field, displaying a level of even-tempered cunning and tenacity that sets her apart from some of her less competent colleagues. Her primary motivation throughout her tenure is to succeed in her missions to secure Professor Tomoe's favor and to prove her superiority, which is partly driven by the constant threat of being replaced by another member of the Witches 5. This insecurity fuels her most significant actions and makes her particularly sensitive to the machinations of her rival, Mimete.

Within the story of Sailor Moon S, Eudial plays a critical role as the primary field agent for the Death Busters during the first major arc of the season. She is tasked by Professor Tomoe with locating and extracting Pure Heart Crystals from civilians in Tokyo, which are believed to be the key to locating the three legendary Talismans. Unlike many villains who rely on supernatural powers, Eudial is a genius inventor and computer programmer, and her role is defined by her technological prowess. She personally develops a sophisticated computer program to scan the city and identify individuals with Pure Hearts and later modifies it to specifically locate the Talismans themselves. To extract these hearts, she invents a specialized Capture Gun. Her most notable creations are her signature weapons, the Fire Buster, a powerful shoulder-mounted flamethrower, and its upgraded version, the Fire Buster II, which also has the ability to fire a glue-like substance to immobilize her enemies.

Eudial's key relationships are almost entirely defined by rivalry and professional competition. She works directly under Professor Tomoe, who seems to favor her, a fact that breeds intense resentment from the other witches, most notably Mimete. The feud between Eudial and Mimete is a recurring element, characterized by juvenile pranks such as Mimete placing snails in Eudial's locker and defacing her photograph. This rivalry ultimately leads to her downfall. Her role in the story is also defined by her antagonism towards the Sailor Guardians. She discovers the civilian identities of the Inner Senshi, Sailor Moon and Sailor Venus, as well as the Outer Senshi, Sailor Uranus and Sailor Neptune. She is particularly positioned as the counterpart to Sailor Mars, as both wield fire-based powers.

Eudial undergoes a significant development as her desperation to succeed grows. After a series of failures, she overhears that she may be replaced, which drives her to upgrade her computer program to directly locate the Talismans. This leads to her most successful mission, where she successfully steals the Talismans from Sailor Uranus and Sailor Neptune, marking her as arguably the most effective and competent member of the Witches 5. However, this success is ultimately fleeting. After a climactic battle where the Talismans are combined to form the Holy Grail, Eudial is blasted out of a cathedral window by the newly transformed Super Sailor Moon. Her story concludes with a final act of betrayal; as she attempts to escape in her car, she discovers that Mimete has sabotaged the brakes, replacing them with snails. Losing control of the vehicle, she drives off a cliff to her death.

Eudial's most notable abilities lie not in innate magic but in her exceptional intellect and ingenuity as a scientist and mechanic. She is capable of constructing sophisticated and deadly weapons from ordinary objects and is a master of computer programming. Her primary combat abilities derive solely from her inventions, including the Capture Gun for extracting heart crystals and her Fire Buster series of flamethrowers for direct offense. She also demonstrates high levels of physical agility, including the ability to teleport short distances and jump great heights, though she is notoriously incompetent when it comes to driving vehicles.
