Hilling serves as the second queen of the Bosse Kingdom, married to King Bosse after Miranjo orchestrated his courtship of her. She is the biological mother of Prince Daida and stepmother to Prince Bojji. Thin and of average height, she possesses long blond hair usually styled to appear chin-length, a prominent nose, and blue eyes. Her signature attire includes a red bustle dress with a white fur-tufted neckline, white gloves, and a solid gold crown. Initially showing great affection for Bojji, Hilling worked to earn his trust, even healing a near-dead snake, Mitsumata, to cheer him. Following Daida's birth, her demeanor shifted towards strictness and overprotectiveness. She severely underestimated Bojji's capabilities, adopting a domineering attitude that strained their relationship. This overprotectiveness extended to Daida, whom she pressured to become physically strong to protect Bojji, inadvertently fostering Daida's resentment toward his brother. While appearing brusque and reserved, aligning with her royal status, Hilling genuinely cares deeply for those around her, particularly her sons, though she struggles to convey her emotions effectively. Her personal bodyguard, Dorshe, recognized her true nature early and became a close ally. After King Bosse's death, Hilling conspired with the royal council to bypass Bosse's will—which named Bojji as successor—and crown Daida king instead, deeming Bojji unfit due to his physical limitations. This decision devastated Bojji, prompting Hilling to reassess her behavior. She reluctantly allowed Bojji to embark on a journey to her parents' home, marking the beginning of her efforts to relax her overprotectiveness. Unbeknownst to her, Daida, influenced by the Magic Mirror, ordered Domas to assassinate Bojji during this trip. Upon discovering the attempt, Hilling ordered the executions of Domas and the guardsman Hokuro, though they escaped. She later despaired when Bosse's soul seized control of Daida's body, resolving to reclaim her son by any means necessary. Hilling was the first to confront Underworld prisoners during their coup of the Bosse Kingdom castle. Her healing magic proved crucial in keeping her soldiers alive during the ensuing battle. When Bojji intervened and subdued the prisoners, demonstrating his newfound strength, Hilling acknowledged his capabilities and withdrew to regroup with allies for the confrontation against Ouken. She supported Bojji in his final battle against Bosse, witnessing Bosse's surrender and Daida's liberation. Though initially maintaining a strict demeanor, she emotionally embraced both sons afterward, despite bafflement at Daida's intention to marry Miranjo. In the coup's aftermath, Hilling resumed duties as queen mother, supporting Bojji's eventual ascension to the throne. She noticed his listlessness after Kage's departure and counseled him to follow his friend to gain experience and become a mightier king. Her abilities center on powerful restorative magic, enabling her to heal wounds, cure poisons, emit holy light, and even revive the recently deceased. This magic drains her physical energy, requiring restorative potions to compensate.
