TV Special
Description
Fasha, known as Seripa in the original Japanese version, is a Saiyan warrior and a member of the Saiyan Army. She serves as the sole female member of Bardock’s elite team, a squad of low-class Saiyan soldiers who undertake missions to conquer planets for the tyrant Frieza. Her name is a pun on the vegetable parsley, continuing the series tradition of naming Saiyans after root vegetables. The original character design, created by Katsuyoshi Nakatsuru, featured her with a bushier hairstyle and a cloth skirt-like piece at her waist, but these elements were changed in the final draft by Akira Toriyama.

Fasha is a ruthless and skillful fighter who embodies the aggressive nature common to her race. Despite her fierce temperament, she possesses a strong sense of camaraderie and honor towards her fellow soldiers, Bardock, Tora, Borgos, and Shugesh. This duality in her personality is most evident in her interactions with her leader, Bardock. She displays a maternal and caring side, being the one to remind Bardock of the birth of his son, Kakarot, and urging him to visit the newborn, whom she affectionately refers to as a little tike. Her concern for her comrades is also shown when she insists on returning an injured Bardock to their home world, Planet Vegeta, so he can recover.

Within the narrative, Fasha is first seen attacking Planet Kanassa alongside her team, using their Great Ape forms to decimate the native population. It is during a break in this mission that she converses with Bardock about his son. After Bardock is incapacitated by a dying Kanassan’s psychic attack, Fasha and the others escort him back to Planet Vegeta for medical treatment. They then depart on their next assignment to purge the inhabitants of Planet Meat. Fasha’s role in the story concludes tragically on this mission. After successfully completing their objective, her team is ambushed by Dodoria and his elite soldiers acting under Frieza’s orders, who has decided to eliminate the Saiyan race. Fasha is killed in this ambush. She later makes a brief cameo appearance in the main Dragon Ball Z series during Frieza’s recollection of the Saiyans he destroyed.

The key relationships in her life are solely with her teammates. She shares a deep bond of loyalty with them, fighting alongside Bardock, Tora, Borgos, and Shugesh as a cohesive unit. Her relationship with Bardock is the most highlighted, characterized by her friendly teasing and concern for his well-being, both physically and regarding his family. It is a common misconception among fans that she might be the mother of Goku, but this has been disproven with the later introduction of Gine, Bardock’s gentle-natured wife. Fasha’s violent and warrior-oriented personality is a direct contrast to Gine, who was ill-suited for combat.

Fasha does not undergo significant character development, as her screen time is limited to the events leading directly to her death. Her purpose is to serve as a representation of the typical Saiyan warrior, albeit a rare example of a female in that role, and to highlight the camaraderie and eventual tragic fate of Bardock’s crew. Her legacy, however, has been expanded in various video games, where she often appears as a playable character.

As a warrior, Fasha is highly proficient in combat. One source places her power level at 2,000. She possesses standard Saiyan abilities including flight and the manipulation of ki to fire energy blasts. Her specific techniques include the Full Power Energy Wave, a powerful pink beam attack, and the Energy Ballet, a barrage of pink energy spheres. She is also notably flexible and acrobatic, performing backflips and cartwheels in battle. Like all full-blooded Saiyans with their tail, Fasha can transform into a giant Great Ape when she looks at a full moon, a power she utilizes during the assault on Planet Kanassa.
