Description
Millennium Feria Nocturne, commonly called Millie, is one of the two heroines of Lost Universe. She originally worked as a private detective at a detective agency but was fired after becoming involved in an incident caused by Kane Blueriver during a mission targeting the criminal organization Dugall Connection. She later joins Kane on his space adventures as an assistant and occasional detective. Millie is the granddaughter of Albert von Stargazer, the head of the Nightmare Syndicate, but she turned against him and his organization, even changing her last name from Stargazer to Nocturne to sever the connection.

In terms of personality, Millie is a happy-go-lucky young woman with an unwavering ambition to become the best in the universe at everything she does. This catchphrase reflects her optimistic and driven nature. She is highly skilled with firearms and is considered an expert sharpshooter. Her cooking is also excellent in taste, but it often results in destructive explosions that obliterate the kitchen, providing a recurring source of comedy.

Millie’s primary motivation is to oppose her grandfather’s criminal syndicate and to prove herself as the best in any field she pursues. Her role in the story is that of a loyal partner to Kane Blueriver and a friend to Canal Volfeed, the sentient ship AI. Together, they travel the galaxy battling the Nightmare Syndicate and the dark forces of the Lost Ship known as Dark Star. Her relationship with Kane begins as a partnership of convenience but deepens into genuine trust and camaraderie. Her connection to Albert von Stargazer is a central point of conflict: she is unaware of her true lineage for most of the series and only discovers it late in the story, when a clone of Stargazer summons her and attempts to manipulate her into killing Kane. She resists this manipulation and reaffirms her choice to stand against her grandfather.

Millie’s development revolves around her growing independence and her rejection of her inherited legacy. She starts as a somewhat impulsive detective and matures into a reliable fighter who actively chooses her own family and loyalties. Her notable abilities include exceptional marksmanship, a stubborn determination, and a surprisingly effective but hazardous talent for cooking. While she often provides lighthearted moments, she proves courageous and resourceful in battle, contributing significantly to the crew’s efforts against the Nightmare Syndicate. After Kane and Canal disappear in the series’ climax, Millie is shown living in Kane’s childhood home, waiting for their eventual return.
