Description
Major Ulube Ishikawa is a central figure in the narrative of Mobile Fighter G Gundam, initially presenting himself as a reliable military commander before his true nature as the story's principal antagonist is revealed. Serving as a high-ranking officer in Neo Japan's military, he holds the rank of Major and acts as a key contact and supporter for the protagonist, Domon Kasshu, during the early stages of the 13th Gundam Fight.

Ulube's background is rooted in his own failure as a warrior. He was once a skilled martial artist and Gundam Fighter, known as the Genius Fighter, who represented Neo Japan in the 12th Gundam Fight. Despite his talent, he was decisively defeated by the legendary Master Asia during the tournament finals, finishing in 17th place. This humiliating loss profoundly shaped his worldview, leading him to believe that raw, absolute power is the only true controlling force in the universe. Disgraced and seeking a different path to dominance, he abandoned his martial aspirations for a military and political career.

His quest for power led him to the Ultimate Gundam, a revolutionary machine with self-regeneration and evolution capabilities, created by Dr. Raizo Kasshu. Consumed by ambition, Ulube conspired with Dr. Mikamura, a jealous colleague of Dr. Kasshu, to steal the Gundam and frame the Kasshu family for treason. The plan went awry when Dr. Kasshu's elder son, Kyoji, escaped with the Gundam to Earth. Ulube personally led a pursuit squadron but encountered the Gundam after it had crash-landed and transformed into the nightmarish Devil Gundam. In the ensuing battle, his entire squadron was destroyed, and he suffered severe scarring on the left side of his face, an injury he would hide for years behind a silver mask. This traumatic encounter only intensified his obsession with the Devil Gundam's terrifying power.

Throughout most of the 13th Gundam Fight, Ulube adopts a calm, mysterious, and knowledgeable demeanor. He manipulates events from the shadows, using Domon, the younger Kasshu son, as an unwitting pawn. He tasked Domon with winning the Gundam Fight to earn a pardon for his falsely imprisoned father while secretly hoping Domon would lead him to the Devil Gundam. His key relationships are all defined by manipulation. He maintains a working relationship with Dr. Mikamura, whose guilt he exploits, and a political alliance with Commissioner Karato. He feigns support for Domon and Rain Mikamura, only to betray them without hesitation when they are no longer useful.

As the story reaches its climax, Ulube sheds his mask of civility to reveal a megalomaniacal and unhinged tyrant. After Domon defeats the Devil Gundam, Ulube seizes its remains. Having learned that a woman is the ideal core life unit to power the machine, he shoots Dr. Mikamura and forces Rain to become the new core, causing the Devil Gundam to evolve into a massive, colony-consuming entity. He then announces his intention to abolish the Gundam Fight and rule the entire universe.

In his final confrontation, Ulube pilots the Grand Master Gundam, a powerful fusion of several other Gundams created by the Devil Gundam. His body is gradually overtaken by DG Cells, the Devil Gundam's self-replicating nanomachines. He willingly allows this infection to consume him, sacrificing his humanity to become a puppet of the Devil Gundam itself. Even in this state, his combat abilities are formidable, having continued his martial training over the years. He is able to overwhelm the combined Shuffle Alliance until they unite their power in a final team attack to destroy the Grand Master Gundam. Mortally wounded, Ulube disintegrates, his body unable to withstand the damage, marking the end of his tyrannical ambition.
