Description
Master Asia, also known by the epithet Tōhō Fuhai, is a central figure in Mobile Fighter G Gundam. Originally born as Shuji Kurosu in Neo Japan, he participated in the 7th Gundam Fight as that nation's representative. After abandoning the final match of that tournament due to a conspiracy, he was exiled and eventually made his way to Neo Hong Kong. There, he created his own martial art, the School of the Undefeated of the East, and entered the 12th Gundam Fight as Neo Hong Kong's champion, winning the title and bringing dominance to his adopted homeland. He also held the title of King of Hearts within the Shuffle Alliance, a position he would later pass on. By the time of the 13th Gundam Fight, he is forty-nine years old and stands as the reigning champion.

Master Asia's personality is marked by an intense stoicism and a strict, disciplined demeanor. Beneath this harsh exterior, however, he is a deeply compassionate and principled individual who rarely expresses his emotions in words. He is a man of strong character who commands both fear and respect from those around him. His motivations are rooted in a profound love for the Earth and a deep disillusionment with the Gundam Fight system itself. Having witnessed firsthand how the tournament, which he once believed would prevent war, actually accelerates environmental destruction and serves as a proxy war, he becomes consumed by despair. This leads him to embrace the Devil Gundam's conclusion that humanity is the cause of the planet's ruin and that its eradication is the only path to salvation. With his own body suffering from an incurable illness, he sees the preservation of the planet as his ultimate goal, even if it means becoming an agent of mass annihilation.

In the story, Master Asia serves as both mentor and primary antagonist to the protagonist, Domon Kasshu. He first appears as a mysterious ally, helping Domon in the fight against the Devil Gundam while secretly plotting to use him as a core unit for the very machine they are pursuing. When his true allegiance is revealed, he becomes a recurring obstacle, repeatedly testing Domon's strength and will. His role is that of a shadow protagonist, a figure Domon must overcome not just physically but ideologically. He represents a twisted form of environmental extremism, believing that humanity must be erased to save the natural world.

The relationship between Master Asia and Domon is the emotional core of his character arc. They first met when Domon was eight years old, running away from home. Master Asia saved him from criminals and, impressed by the boy's spirit, took him as a disciple. Over the years, he taught Domon not only martial arts techniques and the operation of the Mobile Trace System but also the philosophy of a true fighter. The bond between them grew stronger than that of a typical master and student, approaching that of father and son. When they reunite during the 13th Gundam Fight, however, that bond is shattered by their opposing beliefs. Despite becoming enemies, Master Asia never truly brings himself to kill his beloved pupil, instead repeatedly attempting to convert him or let him grow stronger. In their final confrontation, Domon's realization that humanity is still a part of nature forces Master Asia to confront the flaw in his own ideology. Acknowledging his defeat and recognizing Domon as the true King of Hearts, he reconciles with his student and dies peacefully in his arms, entrusting the future of the Earth to the younger generation. After his death, his spirit appears as a vision to guide Domon during moments of doubt.

Master Asia's development traces a path from a proud and idealistic champion to a disillusioned and desperate eco-terrorist, and finally to a redeemed figure who accepts his own mistakes and finds peace through his student's growth. He begins as a symbol of martial purity, fighting to restore the Gundam Fight to its intended form of hand-to-hand combat. The horror of seeing the damage caused by the very system he upheld drives him to a radical, genocidal solution. His defeat and subsequent acceptance of Domon's more balanced worldview complete his arc, transforming him from a villain into a tragic hero who sacrificed his own moral standing for what he believed was the greater good.

His notable abilities are almost superhuman. He is a martial arts master who can destroy mobile suits with his bare hands, using only a simple cloth as a weapon. He has completed the School of the Undefeated of the East, a discipline that combines physical training, spiritual cultivation, and a philosophy of harmony with nature. This allows him to achieve feats far beyond ordinary human limits, including deflecting beam attacks, tearing through metal with his fingers, and launching devastating energy-based techniques. His signature moves include the Sekiha Tenkyoken, a powerful energy blast that represents the ultimate expression of his art, and the Chokyuu Haou Den'eidan, another high-level ki attack. He also demonstrates the ability to control the Devil Gundam's DG Cells, using them to manipulate and brainwash others. His battle expertise is such that he can fight effectively both in his mobile suit, the Master Gundam, and completely unaided, often choosing to engage in combat without a Gundam at all as a testament to his supreme confidence and skill.
