Description
Chikako Ogawa, often called Chi by her friends, is the best friend and self-appointed manager of the series protagonist, Yohko Mano. Chi is a supporting character who injects a strong entrepreneurial and comedic presence into the story. Her primary background is that of a typical schoolgirl, but she is uniquely ambitious and resourceful, always looking for an opportunity to turn a situation to her advantage.

In terms of personality, Chi is energetic, enterprising, and somewhat opportunistic. She is not a fighter, but she sees the potential in Yohko's role as a demon hunter. With a mind for business, she appoints herself as Yohko's manager, hoping to commercialize the demon-hunting activities and turn them into a profitable venture, drawing a clear parallel to the model of the Ghostbusters. This ambition is paired with a more down-to-earth quirk: she is fond of snacking and frequently goes on diets, though these attempts never seem to last very long. Her confidence in her own knowledge is backed by what she calls her intelligence network, and she famously keeps a pocket organizer filled with information, including details and pictures of the most attractive boys at their school to share with Yohko.

Chi's motivations are largely driven by friendship and a desire for success. While she is keen on making money and managing Yohko's career as a hunter, she is also a loyal and supportive friend. She actively assists Yohko wherever she can, often providing crucial information and logistical support. Her role in the story is that of the practical, non-powered sidekick and confidante. She grounds the narrative in the mundane world of school and teenage life, standing in contrast to the supernatural battles Yohko faces. Although she lacks any combat abilities, she is determined to help, which sometimes leads to her getting caught in dangerous situations.

Her most significant relationship is, of course, with Yohko Mano. As Yohko's closest friend, Chi is a constant presence in her life, cheering her on and trying to steer her career. She also interacts with other members of Yohko's circle, including her grandmother Madoka and the younger apprentice hunter Azusa Kanzaki. Throughout the story, Chikako remains a steady, if sometimes comedic, figure of support. She does not undergo a dramatic character arc involving combat power or tragic backstory; her development is more about growing into her role as a competent and resourceful manager, always looking for ways to support her friend and make their team a success. Her notable abilities are entirely non-combat and revolve around her intelligence-gathering skills, her knack for organization, and her unshakable belief in the marketability of Yohko's mission.
