Description
Gōro Fukatsu holds the position of coach for the Warabi Seinan High School girls' soccer team immediately before Naoko Nōmi's arrival. He maintains an air of indifference regarding the team's performance and player development. During both training sessions and matches, his engagement is minimal; he habitually buries his head in horse racing magazines instead of observing the players or offering instruction. This neglect directly contributes to the team's persistent struggles and declining morale, which follows the departure of several players due to poor results.

His coaching approach provides no proactive guidance or strategic input, creating a significant leadership vacuum within the team. The absence of effective oversight necessitates external intervention, resulting in the recruitment of Naoko Nōmi as the new coach. Fukatsu's presence serves primarily to establish the initial dysfunctional environment that Naoko Nōmi must overcome when she assumes coaching duties. His characterization focuses solely on illustrating the team's foundational challenges through passive opposition.
