Description
Naga die weisse Schlange is an alias used by Princess Gracia Ul Naga Saillune, a wandering sorceress and the self-proclaimed rival of Lina Inverse. Born as the first daughter of Crown Prince Philionel El Di Saillune and the older sister of Amelia Wil Tesla Saillune, she left her royal home after her mother was murdered by the assassin Booley. As a teenager, Naga avenged her mother by killing Booley with the original spell Chaos String, then found her mother’s outfit in a closet and adopted it as her own. She departed to learn the ways of the world and gain magical power, though she still receives financial support from her homeland in secret.

Naga is a tall, strikingly beautiful young woman in her late teens, with long dark hair and intelligent blue eyes. She wears a revealing black leather outfit with oversized spiked spaulders, a style she chose both as a keepsake and because she enjoys the intimidating look. Despite her noble birth, she does not openly boast of her lineage, but her confident and graceful demeanor, as well as her habit of addressing royalty as an equal, hint at her upbringing. Her most distinctive trait is an outrageously loud, boisterous laugh that most people find unbearable. She is extremely proud of her appearance, especially her voluptuous figure, and frequently taunts Lina about her small chest, playing on Lina’s insecurities.

Naga’s personality is a mix of arrogance, vanity, carefreeness, and greed. She has an inflated ego and great confidence in her magical abilities, but also a notable lack of common sense. Her spells are powerful but often backfire due to carelessness, causing trouble for herself and those around her. She loves good food, alcohol, and treasure, and will switch sides if offered enough gain. She is also hemophobic: the sight of blood can make her faint, a trauma rooted in witnessing her mother’s murder. For this reason, the large magic sword she carries is purely decorative and used only defensively.

Her primary motivation is to be Lina Inverse’s greatest rival. She originally planned to defeat Lina in order to claim the title Invincible Dark Lord (a title she invented herself). Over time, her obsession with Lina has grown into a complicated relationship where she both aids and antagonizes Lina, often acting as a traveling companion despite their constant bickering. Lina, for her part, finds Naga irritating and frequently uses her as bait or blows her away with spells, but the two have saved each other’s lives on several occasions.

In Slayers: The Motion Picture, Naga reunites with Lina after being hired against her. They obtain tickets to the hot springs of Mipross Island, only to discover the springs are fake and the island is controlled by bandits. After clearing out the bandits, they learn of a demon named Joyrock who is causing chaos. Using her magical skills, Naga assists Lina in the final confrontation, though she is temporarily separated during the time-travel sequence. She and Lina ultimately defeat Joyrock and return to the present, after which they visit a hidden spring that disappointingly does not grant the growth Lina hoped for.

Naga is an exceptionally talented sorceress, well versed in black magic, healing spells, and the conjuration of golems and dragons. However, her spells frequently misfire because of her overconfidence and lack of precision. She also has a tendency to cast spells without thinking, leading to unintended and often comedic disasters. Despite Lina’s mockery, Naga may be one of the few sorceresses who can truly rival Lina in raw power. Her character does not undergo significant development within the movie; she remains a flamboyant, self-assured, and unreliable but ultimately effective ally whose presence keeps Lina on her toes.
