Lady Badiyanu, also known as Queen Badiane, is a witch from another world and the main antagonist of the anime film Sailor Moon SuperS: The Movie. Her plan is to kidnap as many children from Earth as possible and bring them to her Marzipan Castle, where she seals them inside Dream Coffins. While the children sleep, their dream energy, referred to as sugar energy, is harvested to power a massive Black Dream Hole located at the center of the castle. Badiyanu intends for the Black Dream Hole to grow large enough to swallow the entire Earth, seemingly bringing everything under her control. To carry out this scheme, she enlists the help of four fairies: Poupelin, Banane, Orangeat, and Perle. She deceives them by claiming the children will be happy and safe in a world of eternal dreams where they can remain children forever, a promise that eventually causes Perle to doubt her true intentions. Badiyanu is manipulative and ruthless, showing no concern for the well-being of the kidnapped children and dismissing Perle's rebellion with indifference. When Sailor Chibi Moon is captured, Badiyanu senses the extraordinary power within her and determines to use it to fully activate the Black Dream Hole. She demonstrates formidable dark magic, including the ability to project illusions—such as creating a false apartment scene to trap Sailor Moon—and to command black lightning. She can also enlarge herself to a towering size within her castle. During the climax, she merges her body with the Black Dream Hole itself, attacking Sailor Moon with fire and pure darkness. Her development is limited to her escalating power and her ultimate assimilation into the dream hole, but she remains a static, malevolent force. Her key relationship is with Perle, who initially serves her but eventually turns against her after befriending Chibiusa. Badiyanu also interacts directly with Sailor Moon and Sailor Chibi Moon, whom she views as threats to be eliminated. In the final battle, the combined energy of all nine Sailor Guardians empowers Sailor Moon and Sailor Chibi Moon, allowing them to destroy the Black Dream Hole and defeat Badiyanu with the Moon Gorgeous Meditation technique. Her notable abilities include dream energy absorption, illusion casting, energy-based attacks, and self-assimilation into her magical construct.
