Description
Hajime Tanaka is a 24-year-old video game company employee specializing in mobile games. Quiet by nature, he exhibits obsessive tendencies toward games and specific interests.

A childhood trauma shaped Tanaka: he used his father's credit card to purchase a rare Donraku eraser online for 100,000 yen from a seller called "ditch-11," but the item never arrived. His father punished him severely, leaving lasting emotional scars. At school, Tanaka collected erasers to gain social status, competing with classmate Sato. His prized dodo-shaped eraser later symbolized feelings of inadequacy and extinction. His parents gave him a male grey cockatiel named Maru, his sole companion during this period.

As an adult, Tanaka channeled his compulsions into the mobile game "Zooden" (Zoological Garden), fixating on obtaining an ultra-rare dodo character due to its link to his childhood eraser. Over four years, he spent over 5 million yen pursuing it. His obsession intensified upon discovering the game's top-ranked player used the "ditch-11" username, fueling a desire for revenge. After finally acquiring the dodo in-game, taxi driver Hiroshi Odokawa swerved near him, causing Tanaka to drop and break his phone. The dodo data proved irrecoverable. That same day, his cockatiel Maru died.

These losses triggered a mental breakdown. While burying Maru in a park, Tanaka discovered a handgun in a box, interpreting it as fate. He donned a mask and pursued vengeance against Odokawa. During a parking lot confrontation, a rare Donraku eraser fell from yakuza member Dobu. Odokawa identified Dobu as both the "ditch-11" scammer and the top Zooden player. Enraged, Tanaka shot Dobu and fled.

Afterward, Tanaka overcame his gaming addiction and resumed work at the game company. The series later reveals his animal-like appearance resulted from Odokawa's visual agnosia, confirming Tanaka's humanity.
